C4GP 2015 "Multimedia system temporarily unavailable"

Post by Gabriel_M »

Hi,

This seems to be a common issue and has now appeared also on my car, much worse when it's cold outside, to the point where the heating controls for example become completely erratic. I think, with the screen off, I can also see some sort of discoloration at the edges.

I have already updated the firmware to the latest one (easy enough) but has not helped.

Does any of you kind people know a way forward? Is replacement of the lower LCD screen the only option? If yes, does anyone know the correct part no for the screen? I also have navi (Exclusive spec) if it helps.

Many thanks in advance
Gabriel

We're not going out much at the moment but it's definitely linked to cold weather. Been out a few times in our Mk2 308 and I've seen that message. A few miles later when the engine has warmed up and heater started working the message disappears.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

What a pain it is though, on a freezing day, to not be able to turn up the heating or at least turn the fan speed down. Full arctic air in your face as you drive off gets old pretty quickly!

Mine is much worse and often goes into error mode, even in the last few days when down South it has not been that cold.

Does anyone know if there is a part number for the LCD screen (to be replaced) or any other fix? Most of the controls are on it, so not having them available it's not trivial.

Hi Gabriel

There are 3 parts to this system.
Gab 1.PNG
Gab 2.PNG
Gab 3.PNG
The Multifunction control panel
(which is the surround of the screen with the buttons).
The actual multifunction screen itself. This is the main Telematic Unit, which is hidden behind the dash.
All Expensive! So what really needs to happen is a diagnostic to find out which of the units is potentially faulty. Replacing any one component will need coding to the vehicle and configuring using approprite diagnostic tools, so I highly recommend a diagnostic first.

Marc, many thanks! Do you have by any chance the part numbers, to see how expensive?... Is there a revision as well (as often seems to be with french cars, with a revised part released later on whilst in production)?

Sorry to ask, but can't find this anywhere.

I strongly suspect it's the LCD screen that's faulty, as when warm it behaves fine, but when cold buttons get pressed at random and I can also see discoloration / bleeding at the edges of the screen and don't think that's normal.

Thanks again
Gabriel

HAHA, wow! Yeah, eBay it is then (used part), no chance I would pay this sort of money. At least now I know the part numbers.

I have a Lexia - does anyone know what sort of coding I need to do (if any) once I replace just the LCD (the first port of call)?

Thanks, Marc!

Now I can't be 100% certain, but I'm almost sure that these units can't be configured with Diagbox without a PSA server configuration which you won't have with this being a clone. You have the SMEG Digital Receiver and these generally require a connection to PSA servers to be configured as they are locked out, so do factor that in.

Hi all, I thought I would provide an update. Bought the LCD screen (part no 9812720580) on eBay (about £150) and it seems like the issue is sorted.

No coding necessary.

On the old LCD, I can clearly see discolouration on the edges, so I assume it had failed.

Good result. Some of the screens don't need coding - but some do, just depends on the system, but good news, and thanks for the update.
