What is this warning light??? Citroen Nemo

Unread post by itstimmate »

Afternoon Everyone,

I have a 2011 Citroen Nemo, It runs ok the majority of the time and then seemingly out of the blue the EML will come on in addition to this second light, which I am unsure as to what it means, can anyone shed any light? When this happens the engine goes into limp mode.....

The picture is a little unclear but its essentially 2 orange arrows forming a circle around an exclamation mark, it is located at the bottom left of the speedometer, this problem only occurs at low revs in the lower gears :?: :?: :?:

I've checked the technical info on this and there doesn't seem to be a warning in the lower left shown - however the red one can be wither the handbrake is not properly released or low brake fluid warning - so I'd obviously check that first of all.

Thank you very much for the reply, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be either of those things. I've attached another close up of it, it may not even be related to the eml issues, all i know is that they both come on at the same time. Kind Regards

Isn't the Nemo really a Fiat?
Punto dash lights:

The only one I have seen appears to indicate worn brake pads - a circle with arrows as described.

ive actually just figured it out, the dash in the nemo is from a fiat doblo

https://www.dash-lights.com/fiat/doblo- ... ng-lights/

and the light is "Warning light name: Fiat Doblò start stop failure warning light.
Description: This amber warning light illuminates when a fault with the automatic engine start stop system has been detected."

Which i guess makes sense, because when the EML comes on the start/stop is deactivated. So I guess the question is now...

Why is the EML coming on? Ive had it looked at by a garage and they think that because it was standing for a while prior to me buying it, it might be something to do with the egr valve...? Im currently running a bottle of cataclean through it to see if that makes a difference? However, he said that his diagnostic machine thingy (technical term) could pick anything up? Does anyone know the correct diagnostic equipment for this job?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks
Tim

Yes these are all fiats - not much Citroen about them. But as I said, the available Citroen tech info does not cover this particular warning light anywhere in the instrument panel data, so I was only referring to the red warning lamp and the associated info if illuminated.

You will need to find somebody with Lexia/DiagBox equipment AND the S1279 module (this is needed for the Fiat derived vans). There are forum members with the Lexia equipment, but you aill have to ask them if they have the additional module. The following link is for the Forum members willing to help out;

While this is an ebay link to that module;

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to help me out, that is extremely helpful!

So are nemo's some kind of punto/doblo hybrid?

They are FIAT Fiorino's, the Citroen badged ones called the Nemo and the Peugeot badged versions are called the Bipper. See my post here:

Tim, I've replied to your PM. I do have a Diagbox set-up but not the S1279 adaptor. Sorry.

Just a simple suggestion. Why not buy the S1279 module yourself, and then contact Lexia owning Forum members to see if they can help you?

Update. Im in desperate need of help ?????

This has been in the garage with the correct diagnostic equipment, its had a full service, injectors, glow plugs, new airflow sensor, the egr has been out and cleaned and it STILL has the same issue. When is plugged in on the dyno and running everything fires at the correct time I am told.

Im all out of money and options.... anybody have any ideas?

symptoms are- poor running at low revs and then it will put the car into limp mode

I reply on the car for work and have no other option for transport..... i'm really stuck here and am down to my last pennies

I may only be able to help you of you have the exact fault codes that come up from a diagnostic. The engine ECU will log a fault code for any occasion where it has to put the car into a backup mode (limp). So it is important to get these and them I might be able to get some explanation of the fault from the codes, but without these we are working blind at this end as there could be literally hundreds of reasons for a backup mode.
