Climate control faulty 2009 C5 VTR NAV +

Post by stagsmad »

Hi all,
I am having issues with my 2009 Citroen C5 VTR NAV+, the climate control adjuster on the drivers side has stopped working and his stuck on low ( as you can imagine it’s cold).
Is there any way to reset this or am I looking at a replacement unit.
Thanks in advance

Depends on the exact issue. Which system do you have (in fact your VIN would be useful for future enquiries too and will be hidden on submission).

There are stepper motors for the Air Distribution and also for the Air Mixing. So what is the exact issue - is it lack of air power or that the air speed is controllable but the temperature remains either hot or cold or static regardless of setting? We will be able to determine whether you have the Dual Zone Climate or Mono Zone system from your VIN.

It could also be the heater matrix getting clogged, so restricting cooling or heating efficiency on one side, or A/C gas is low, or a coolant problem.

Hi Marc
My vin is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] and I have included a pic of my climate control unit.
The problem is when I turn the adjuster on the right of the photo it doesn’t change the temperature. The temperature stays on low but it should increase.
Cheers

Might I suggest you put a space between "is" and "VF", so that the security software can obscure the VIN from the view of normal members?

That's a dual zone system and looks suspiciously like the climate control panel itself may be faulty. If the climate ECU contained inside the panel shown is malfunctioning, then it won't send the commands to adjust the air mixing (temp.) or air distribution settings to the stepper motors. As the dial would seem stuck on the setting shown, it might be that the ECU is ok, but tracks on the dial have become worn - more so because it's the driver's side that tends to get more use....

So not sure what you can do - whether taking it apart and trying to clean the tracks about the dial or look for a replacement. These climate control panels are currently £540.46 inc. VAT from Citroen

So have a look for a second hand one.

This may be of interest (I used the code Marc posted);

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/96715288zd-h ... SwTnpfyPUX

I have no connection to this buyer, and I cannot vouch for the functionality of the part.

I had this problem on mine. It was a dodgy switch and a second hand unit cured the problem. More info here: viewtopic.php?p=576809#top
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

The number Marc posted (and which I used in the ebay search) is the one you want. If it is not a match it will not work.

Those look different to me (physically as well as part number wise). I gave you the Citroen internal part number, but as you have posted your photo, use the same external part number: 96715288ZD

Here's one with the same part number:

It's always the German bits that go wrong isn't it?!
I know they're also responsible for the steering rack, are the window mechs and wiper motors from Germany too?
