DS4 Heater blowers fault

Post by r3ynolds »

Hi, I'm hoping someone might be able to give some advice. My daughter's DS4 heater fans have started working intermediately, can be working fine then stop and start again an hour later. I've had the laptop plugged in and it is showing an intermediate faulty with the heater fan. The question is what is faulty I was thinking resistor. any help would be appreciated. PS when it works it works fine from slow to fast.

This can be down to water / condensation in the blower motor and the bearings that can get stuck which sometimes stops the blower motor from starting (as they are generally stepped up in power) so there is not enough welly to get it going. If it is intermittent it may be the resistor pack - but did you get any fault codes? If so pop them up here with your VIN and I may be able to get some more info.

sorry for the slow reply was away with work. the VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] the pic below is what I'm getting on the laptop. hopefully this will help narrow down the fault.

Ok, so here is the fault descriptor. As it is working intermittently, I would think it unlikely to be the fuse, so I would focus on the Blower Control Module which is the most common issue. These step up or down the current as required, but do become defunct as they age.
Fault Code: B131C 01

Description of Fault: Passenger compartment air blower fault. A part of the line is in open circuit or in short-circuit to the plus.
- Air blower motor
- Control
- Earth
- Copy
- Supply
- Blower control module
The blower control is compared to the motor copy voltage
Confirmation of the fault after 5 or 12 seconds depending on the type of fault
Fault detectable at 100% for a blower setting from the BSI of between 30% and 70%.

Conditions for Fault to clear: Disappearance of the fault

Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: Depending on the type of problem, the operation may be either retained or interrupted

Symptoms: Malfunctioning of the production of cold air
Malfunctioning of the production of warm air
Malfunctioning of regulation of the temperature requested
Malfunctioning of the blowers
Malfunction of the windscreen demisting/de-icing

Suspect Areas: Electrical harnesses
Electrical supplies protection and management unit (BPGA) fuse F10
Air blower motor
Earth point MC46
Air conditioning ECU
Supplies protection and management unit (BPGA)

Disconnect the connector ( as "b").
Unlock the blower control module (3) ( as "a").
Slide the blower control module (3) (At "d").
Pivot the blower control module (3) (At "c").
Remove the blower control module (3).
