Xantia - LHM leak at rear
Fred likes keeping me on my toes! I’ve a leak at the rear left, quite high up above and forward of the corner sphere. I hope to have a proper look at it at the weekend. I can see a collection of pipes and things that I don’t know go where. Is there anything known to fail? Thanks.

Re: Xantia - LHM leak at rear
You may find it's nothing more than the leakage return pipe has popped off the rear suspension cylinder bellows or a plastic leakage return junction (or joint) just above the subframe has split...
The point where the leak is visible is not necessarily the source LHM enjoys travelling...

Re: Xantia - LHM leak at rear
Thanks Jim, that gives me a starting point.
I’ve a weeping LHM pump (again) and a small leak where I disturbed the front accumulator pipes to deal with as well. I could right go off Fred, she’s forever dribbling. Oh yeah, the banjos to the fuel pump.
Bleurgh!

Maybe if you were kind to it and said some nice things and gave it some love every now and again it would stop weeping and be happy again
A hydraulic Citroen that does not leak a little bit of LHM here and there just isn't right

Re: Xantia - LHM leak at rear
If the LHM appears to be coming from above the subframe, you can get access to inspect (and possibly repair) by jacking up the car and removing the subframe LH mounting bolts with a jack supporting the subframe, then you can lower that side of the subframe a couple of inches without disturbing the exhaust.
Re: Xantia - LHM leak at rear
Am surprised it’s been this long! Not been driving the car so battery was flat. Sigh. Anyway finally took a look. There’s a 3 way joiner in plastic where it’s broken off. 1 pipe goes to the front, 1 to the left rear suspension sphere assembly and the 3rd to the centre sphere assembly (I think).
Can I replace the joiner or must I replace the pipes?

Thanks.

Red bits are the pipe ends.

I presume you're referring to the red t piece? Yep, just change it, there is a similar one at the front. It also looks like the clear plastic return pipe isn't pushed far enough it. They become brittle and split.

Thanks. I wonder if it counts as "essential travel" to go order one. I don't have a spares shop in my village and I'm not supposed to leave!

Re: Xantia - LHM leak at rear
That's correct.
The small bulge in the clear plastic pipes should go a few mm inside the rubber elbows/joints, so it resists pulling out.

Re: Xantia - LHM leak at rear
Thanks. Will make sure I push the pipes well into the new t piece. The t piece has completely disintegrated so hopes the pipes are ok. It’s very messy, LHM everywhere, so needs a good clean.

Re: Xantia - LHM leak at rear
The clear nylon pipes more-or-less go on for ever. It's just the rubber joiners that eventually peg out.

Thanks Chris. How’s the Covid situation there? You’re in Andalucia, right? Me too. We’re still in lockdown but cases going down finally.
