I sort of miss mine, 10 plate VTR+, 2.0 Hdi, the 163 version, bought about 12 months old high miler. Flawed in some ways, excellent in many others. Did us well on long trips including 5 up to ski in Alps, that's the one with roofbox, then just the 2 of us on a similar trip a couple of years later. Pictured on return, picnic area on Autoroute Blanche. Snow on distant mountains, encouraging road sign arrow, whoosh. It was excellent on those trips, get off Eurotunnel, point it towards a Hotel near Geneva, arrive wholly untroubled not many hours later. A nice plus was the way all that torque took you flying up the steep bits of the A40 (theirs, not ours) with the cruise set to 135 kph. Sad to see it go, but my wife had the beginnings of hip joint problems and hauling herself out of the deep-ish front seats wasn't fun. Its one of those shapes that 'look right' 12 years on from its original launch, a bit like the SAAB 9-5 estate I had before. So it went, last year we had a long meandering trip in the Picasso across central France, into Provence and a blast back up the autoroutes to home. Fine, comfortable, convenient, economical, fast enough, very rational. But somehow it doesn't quite appeal like the C5 did. You don't leap in early on the morning of a long trip and think "good, we're off".

Great post Richard, and feel free to lob up any other pictures (and tales) you might come across :-D or indeed if you see C5's when you are out and about....don't think I have seen one in the flesh since I started this thread..If I had I would have photographed it :-D . Not exactly a common sight now.

Interestingly Richard SWMBO's similar problems caused me to buy my second C5 which was a Mk 1 2.0HPi hatchback, because having owned the C5 2.2 HDI in an earlier life we knew all about the C5 suspension and found it the perfect solution for her while awaiting her hip replacement surgery. The fact that I could raise it to high for her to board and dismount made it a very useful car not to mention of course the smooth ride protecting her from most road jars and bumps. Unfortunately it suffered fuel vapourisation issues which I tried many mods to cure, but not with any great success. I fitted a fuel cooler in the return to tank line and a cold jacket around the feed lines and pump but it would seldom allow me to get over 3000 rpm and once her hip was replaced, so was the car for my Mazda 6, which has since been replaced with my current C5!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

OK, you did ask. I've been through my photos and found a few. These are more of mine. The full boot (seat up, cover on) contains a dismantled 4.3 octave Marimba, impressive flat space. Mine wasn't an uppy-downy one, I've had BX's and a Xantias in the past but this is steel sprung. Not bad though. Plus (don't shout for going OT) the SAAB it replaced, remarkably similar external dimensions +/- 2 cm, a photo of a German one which might be unusual, black to start with. When the X7 came out the advertising was all about "German quality" but I doubt they sold many there. This one was outside a hotel, Chalons sur Saone perhaps?. And a C130. While I was searching through I found this, taken near the top of Helm Crag, not often you look down on one (but I did look down on a Vulcan from the Cullin Ridge on Skye back in the early 80s, still in RAF service, sadly no photo).

Another post follows shor...

...tly. When the Tour de France came by in 2014 it went along the Sawston bypass. Handy public footpath from a nearby village close to me. The official cars were Skoda, but the teams had a smattering of Peugeot 508s and Citroen C5s. Some with impressive bike racks. Taking picture of this lot is a lottery. 90 minutes of waiting about, half an hour of promotional/advertising vehicles, then whooooosh, its all gone. Only about 6 flat miles from the day's start so just one big bunch. Here are the C5s.

Enjoy, that's me done on C5 pictures.

You have done very well Richard. An excellent crop.

I'll have to forgive myself but the best one is the one from Helm Crag (and not a C5 in sight!) :-D

The walk up Helm Crag from Grasmere is one of the best Lake District things to do. Super reward for a little bit of effort, and back down for some gingerbread/tea/ice cream whatever is your pleasure.

An on the road spot of a, you've guessed it, silver C5 Estate of I guess the mark 1 variety, but no chance of getting the camera out.

What was Whitby like?
I should go, been three years now.
My brother lives there, hardly ever see him.

Hi
Whitby was a bit damp but after being at work all through lockdown it was something to look forward to.
We had a lovely weekend staying at Brown's Caravan site at Cayton Bay and visiting Whitby on Saturday.
Very nice place but busy not ideal in the circumstances

Hi
There is a one way system operating in certain parts of the town and Swing Bridge and lots of people wearing face coverings.
The trouble with this situation we are in is that there are no guarantees it will ever end and with the infection rate rising and falling in different areas of the country mass uncertainty still exists.
That said all five members of our family have have been working throughout the pandemic, I think that there becomes a time when you just have to get on with life
I really feel for the families who have lost loved ones and we have been lucky that (touch wood) it hasn't struck near home! although I do know people, some of them friends that have tested positive for Covid 19
