C3 external temp
Hello, it's me again haha!
My partners 2009 C3 external temp sensor doesn't work, just displaying - - - on the dashboard. I've found the sensor I need on ebay for £9ish, but before I order it, does anyone know what size crimps etc I need to put it in the plugs behind the door? I'm fairly confident about removing the wing mirror to do this, but I don't want to start and realise I'm missing bits to do it properly.
I know I need the sensor, just what else do I need to do it so I can order them at the same time
Cheers!

Re: C3 external temp
You can't actually wire the sensor in anywhere - you need to cut the old wires (not too far back) and just splice the new ones in. Use some heat shrink tubes to seal them.

I often wonder if they are calibrated. I keep meaning to buy a stack of thermistors and check them. Have a dozen in my eBay basket and will send for them one day, along with the other couple of hundred things lurking there.

Re: C3 external temp
Well I tried to Change the sensor this morning, but it's all been absolutely butchered, wires cut everywhere, which would explain why the electric mirror heating and folding doesn't work also. I've sourced a new mirror on ebay with all the connections and plugs (9 wires) for about £50 which is pretty good I think. Just curious as to whether anyone knows of the mirror caps can be changed as my partners wing mirrors are colour coded
Cheers in advance for any replies!

That does look like a dog's breakfast.
The C3 mirror tops can be removed and replaced. There are clips on the short edges of the cap than can probably be carefully removed with a blunt trim removal tool.

Re: C3 external temp
Cheers for that! Yes even the wires aren't connected to the glass behind, even though it wouldn't have made a difference haha! At least I know how it all comes apart now so should be straight forward to whip out and change next weekend lol

Re: C3 external temp
Update.. New (used) mirror arrived, all fitted and everything working, external temp, electric mirrors and power folding working. I had a look at the other wing mirror as motor was running but not power folding, discovered that the wing mirror was screwed into place as mechanism had snapped off does anyone know if a 3door c3 wing mirror would work the same as a 5 door mirror? Cheers!

Re: C3 external temp
The Mirrors differ from build dates - there are no 3 door C3 IIs, apart from the Pluriel and that has different mirrors. Standard C3 IIs are all 5 door.

Re: C3 external temp
Cheers for the reply, mine is a mk1 fl exclusive I believe it is 7wires for the passenger side as the drivers side is 9 due to the temp sensor

Re: C3 external temp
That's correct - for the electric fold back type.
For your future reference, it's actually a MK II or a facelifted MK I, but Citroen refer to it as a C3 MK II

Re: C3 external temp
Yeah I always get confused, if I put reg in ebay etc it shows me the parts for the actual mk2, which is completely different mirrors etc
Still trying to source a passenger wing mirror haha!

Re: C3 external temp
Just curious, I've looked at loads of these mirrors now. Obviously I think the ones with just one black plug are just electric mirrors with no heating, then there are ones with two plugs (black and brown) that are electric, heated and power folding.
My question is if I'm asking people if they are power folding and they don't know, is there a way to tell from the colours of the wires, or the look of the wing mirror at all?
Only that I'm thinking they there may be more out there than I think, but some people just don't know
Hope you can help with this one haha!

Re: C3 external temp
Ok, so eBay databases are crap, as they are often wrong, so don’t relay on them.
The best thing is to get the correct part number for the mirror you need and then search on that. That will save you guessing and lowers the risk of getting ge wrong one.
As you probably know now, parts access is chargeable to us, so if you make a minimum £10 forum donation, (use the DONATIONS link at the top of the page), that will cover you for up to 2 years parts info. I’ll be able to tell you what you need then.
