Got the blooming glovebox out. what a faff. Probably worse getting it back in!

Anyway. its not enough! I need to fit my Parrot 'box' and cant really get a gap to the side of the radio housing I can feed the gubbins through I can see
Can the footwell side panel be removed for access?

See my post here with pictures for when I installed a DAB radio - it shows how to remove the footwell side panels so you know how they are attached:

Right. So access just wasnt happening for the Parrot cables. Had a rethink and went in from the radio display side.
Why was I messing with the glovebox? Drilled 2 holes to allow cables to feed into the gap above the climate controls. fitted the microphone and display there. fed the usb and 3.5mm line in to the side to fit my phone holder/charger without trailing wires
Nice neat job if I must say so myself.
Still got the dashcam wiring to sort but given I removed the whole glovebox for nothing I wont have much issue with accessing the fusebox!

Now for the real fun. Went to drive away to take the mrs to work. power drops and the car flags up a depolution error
Struggled at the end of the road for power again but after that drove fine.
So back to the start. Really not feeling the love for this car.

EML has went off itself. Ran the fault codes and got P1336. Torque indicates likely the crankshaft sensor?
cleared the cdoe but thinking its likely wiring/faulty sensor flagging up intermittent fault

There's not much on this code: Considerable misfiring on several cylinders: Not characterised.

But I would certainly be looking at coil pack / plugs to start with.

Yeah I was wondering if it would be pointing towards coil packs way. Ill have a dig around tomorrow morning.
Still need to try and fix the bonnet release handle as I think Im missing mounting hardware for the cable. doesnt seem to be any points to take up the slack/route the cable

Right. visually checked the coil packs and plugs. no visual damage/issues. Plugs good even colour.
Wondering if I should just swap these items out. Eurocarparts would hit me for £73 for plugs and coil pack with their Easter discount.

Also for the bonnet cable. The large plastic panel around the bonnet mech. Is this separate from the bumper?
Thinking rather than cobble a mounting set up I would be better getting that part from a scrappys once the lock down is over and keeping an OEM mount.
Looking closely at mine I can see something is sheared off the underside that I assume was the cable routing/mounting part.

There are 2 parts to the bonnet opening system. The first and most awkward one is the cable release from the interior (that is rarely the problem) and the other part is where you lift the tab from under the bonnet. This is the part that failed with me.

I bought the kit and it was a simple matter of routing it and replacing it all from the front. Taking off the plastic covers on top of the headlamps carefully and then the long black plastic trim above the bonnet release should make it easier to see the routing.

I have the new cable fitted but as it loops in a U there seems nowhere to fit it to take up slack/add resistance. So it doesn't actuate the lock as the cables loose.
The old one was loose and stretched so no guide to its original fitment. I can see the mark of where something has been snapped off the underside of the plastic nearby where the oil sticker is on the top of the panel.

Have a squiz at my post here:

viewtopic.php?p=595633#p595633

That shows the parts diagram and a few posts down I did a quick (non-instructable) video - just to show the mechanism working - but I did mention there about the routing.

Cheers.
I can see on your video your cable goes at an angle towards the exact part thats sheared off on mine. That whole area is flat with nothing to route around.
So mine just goes it a loose loop.

Ok, so it may have been in a battle earlier where it has seized up jammed - which may have stressed the routing supports. Can you improvise with some cable ties strategically placed?

Ive got cable ties on the latch just now to open the bonnet.
I was planning to macgyver something but thinking replacing the entire panel would be better long term.

Ok, so there are some differences between your model and mine that I think are worth a mention:
X7 Bonnet.PNG
You don't have items:
(17) Anti-Intrusion Protector
(18) Engine Bonnet Seal

The only other bit of trim I can see that may have some fixing underneath for the bonnet cable is item (4) which may require drilling of the 3 holes for the fitting of power train trims where applicable, but I can't be sure.
