308 HDi (90) T7 accelerator pedal for speed limiter
Hi all, I know this topic has been touched on many times, but I cant find an answer by searching on the forum !
Does anybody know which part number accelerator pedal will allow the speed limiter function to work on a 308 HDi (T7) ? I retrofitted a cruise / limiter stalk and turned it on in PP2000 - cruise now has been working fine for ages. The stalk has a limiter option, but it doesn't work, even when enabled in both BSI and ECU. I also get errors logged about accelerator pedal coherence if I turn on the limiter. I'm assuming that the pedal needs changing to make this work.
I've seen references to a separate switch that clicks when the pedal hits the floor (the pedal assy has a space just under the hinge for a small microswitch that would do this). I dont know if this wires back through the single connector on the pedal unit or a separate connector? If so, is it a simple on/off switch or something more complex, switching between low and high resistance ? Anybody with access to electrical schematics able to help with this one ?
I have taken a look on Servicebox, and there's only one pedal I can identify with a reference to limiter function, and that's 1601-V6. I just don't know how to find out which model that was fitted in !

If you post you VIN then one of the staff (probably Marc!) will be able to see what pedal you have fitted. The VIN will be masked so only staff can see it.

Thanks for that, but I think that the current pedal doesn't support limiter function, so the crucial question is what model I need to grab a pedal from to make the limiter work.
I'll look up the VIN on the docs tonight. A cookies and cache refresh on servicebox means its no longer there !

There is a 'safety zone' built into compatible accelerator pedal potentiometers that allow a 'kick down' mode to override the limiter in an emergency. But as you have discovered not all pedals are the same. I'll still need your VIN to determine your current vehicle 'level' and build date.
1601V6 is compatible - but it doesn't work like that in reverse. You need to locate the part number not the vehicle. It's that part number that you want regardless of vehicle:
So here is what you want:

VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff], which shows an accelerator pedal of 1601 AY. I don't see any reference to this either being OK for limiter use or not?

Re: 308 HDi (90) T7 accelerator pedal for speed limiter
If you just do a generic search then you see:
01
1601 AY
01
ACCELERATOR PEDAL
- BVM5 AND WITHOUT SPEED CONTROL
01
- BVM6 AND WITHOUT SPEED CONTROL
1601 V6
01
- REGULATOR AND SPEED LIMIT
01
- 6-SPEED CONTROLLED MANUAL GEARBOX
01
- BVA
So there does appear to be some difference relating to speed limiter (and presumably kick down function since V6 is specified for autos (BVA).
I'm pretty sure I've got a 1601V6 in the garage - I took it off my 307 when I scrapped it as someone was looking for one. I'll get a pic of the connector so that you can compare it with the one on your car.

Thanks for looking into this. I'll scrabble under the dash and take a look at some point - might take a few days before I can get to it.

Re: 308 HDi (90) T7 accelerator pedal for speed limiter
A while ago a collection of spares I picked up included a throttle pedal with a part number of 9681434380-00. I don't know how to cross reference this number to a 1601 type number on the parts diagrams. This shows on ebay as a unit that is widely used for both petrol and diesel, 207 and 307 and i think 308. I've just never been sure that it will work or even fit on my 308 !

Here's the numbers on mine, different to that you posted:
And the detail of the connector
By the looks of the ones on e-bay with your original number the connector is the same with 5 pins.

The connector looks very similar, but the overall structure is quite different! I'll probably have to wait until the w/e before I'll have a chance to look under the dash at the one fitted.

I was also going to say that I wouldn't put too much effort into it - I've had cars with limiters for about 80k now, and have never used it - although I can see that if you did a lot of urban driving, particularly where there are 20mph limits, or live in Derbyshire where it all seems to be 50 on otherwise perfectly decent roads, you might use it more!

If it's like the T9 then CC doesn't engage at under 25mph.

I was thinking about the limit function, not the cruise - checked on my 3008 this morning, it can be set as low as 19 mph (presumably 30kph) - I can see that this would be useful if you lived in a wide 20mph area - as Edinburgh have imposed in the last couple of years.

Re: 308 HDi (90) T7 accelerator pedal for speed limiter
Sorry, missed that distinction. I don't use the speed limiter and, in fact, find it so useless I wound it up to the maximum speed it would go to and left it there.

Re: 308 HDi (90) T7 accelerator pedal for speed limiter
There are two types of limit to talk about in a Peugeot - one is just a 'bong' noise that is annoying, and the other is similar to cruise, but in reverse. Cruise holds a minimum speed, and the accelerator cn be used to go faster, limit constrains the max speed (until full throttle is used) and the driver can choose to drive slower. The noise one that just sounds if the car travels over a certain speed is pretty rubbish and very annoying, I can see the purpose in the other, the function should be there, and if a simple throttle pedal swap works, it would be great. I'll take a look at the existing pedal at the weekend..
My wife doesnt like cruise because she feels 'out of control', but has used limit in another car to maintain a max speed on motorways etc to ensure that speed cameras like the one on the downhill slope on the A1 by Grantham doesn't trap her accidentally speeding up on the downhill for example. I've also found it handy to minimise concentration on the speedo in 30mph urban areas, which enables more focus on the environment outside the car.
