Citroen ZX rear fog lens

Post by dannyboy84 »

Hi all,

Got a problem with the rear fog light on my ZX 1.9D estate, the lens was smashed and has completely come off.

Just need help on how to remove the light unit and hopefully where to get one? Tried Citroen dealer and local breakers but no joy.
Are there any other vehicles or models that share the same rear fogs? On my estate they are right underneath in the bumper.

Any help would be appreciated as I have got MOT next month.

Many thanks

Danny

Left or Right? RHD / LHD?

6350C0 is the left hand Citroen part number. Magneti Marelli Part number is: 08187
Available part here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rear-fog-lig ... 3438648049

6351C0 is the right hand Citroen part number. Magneti Marelli Part number is: 08188

Just a tip - you will get better results looking for parts, using the Magneti Marelli part numbers as they are made by them. Those in the links have them in stock, but many of the searches I did for the Citroen Part Numbers were all out of stock / no longer available.

As for removing: Look at item 3 in the diagram below. To the left side of the lamp you can see a clip, so using a trim removal tool, you should be able to gently push in on the side of the clip and lever it out at an angle. Re-insertion should be a matter of putting the other side in at an angle and swinging the other side back into place. There are no official details I have on removing them, but I believe this is the correct way.

not familiar with it personally, but having bought the new light as links already provided, the method of fitting will become a whole lot clearer from looking at the new part.

I'd imagine its gonna be a 'pop the rear wheel off, set up a decent light and reach in' job. Maybe pop the spare wheel out if its a Cradle type on those (don't recall) to make some extra room.

Ensure its safe before you get under there, you'd only have a ton of car fall on you once!

If memory serves you should be able to disconnect the wiring plug once you have swung out the lamp. I'm sure you'll let us know though!

Seeing that link, Mark, to Magneti Marelli light fittings, I had a delve into their sizeable on-line catalogue yesterday, to see whether any other Citroen light fittings might lurk there (eg XM front sidelights). Entirely forgot that a good few Citroen fittings of that era were Valeo (how could I have forgotten that? #-o), and therefore nix (for XM) there. Was ZX an exception then?

I've just uploaded Magneti Marelli's latest catalogue for light fittings, which makes it a little easier:

Aha! The ubiquitous side indicator repeater light!
That explains why those are so easy to find on various sites.

Hi guys,

Have to tried get hold of the rear lights and can't, was refunded money from eBay because not in stock and have tried other online places where you can order it but then says stock unavailable or discontinued.
Anybody know anywhere abroad or anybody breaking a ZX estate or have seen one on a breakers recently?
There easy to remove by the way, spring clip on boot lid side push in and pull out.

Many thanks

Hi guys

Got the car through the Mot.
Swapped the nearside rear fog to the offside as this is all that is legally required by law. That's what the garage did anyway

Will keep a lookout for one in the future, thanks for the help everyone
