Hi all does anyone have a link to the 2.2HDI 2003 C5 x7 wiring diagram , what I'm wanting to do is look were the 4 wires from the ESP 81 go to to try and track down why I have loads of fault codes , the 4 colours are red, purple, green, brown...
Thanks
Andy

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
Do you mean for your 2009 2.2 X7? If so, there are many connections - which ones on the diagram are you referring to?
7800 is the ESP ECU.
All the bottoms ones shown go to the sensors and the diagnostic port. Top right connections are to the clutch switch and are combined with others in the 38 pin Grey Plug.
Let me know which pins you are referring to.

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
Ignore the wire colours, citroen wiring is identified by the code printed along the wire & the pin location in the connector. The code is printed every couple of inches along the wire. The codes are shown next to each wire on the above diagram.

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
another update on this ive found that if I turn the ignition off then turn the ignition on and start the car all of the faults go and everything works as it should , you can turn ESP off manually and back on and it flashes up green and says ESP activated and hill start works , as long as I don't turn the engine off everything works with no Faults.. so I was thinking .. problem with the BSI, and or issue with the ECU.. is this a checksum problem... what do people think

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
The system self-checks on startup. If the self-diagnosis is fine you won't get any errors, that's why. As soon as a fault or condition that can affect the full operation and subsequent safety of the system, occurs, then the ESP will go into a backup mode. The backup mode will deactivate ESP functions, leaving only a rudimentary ABS. This also means crusie control, hill start and emergency dynamic braking via the electronic handbrake will all be deactivated.
There is only one ESP ECU that controls the ESP and the ABS system. BCM1 is the left-hand multifunction switch block.
Here is the full diagram: The ESP ECU is 7800 and 7804 at the top is the ESP accelerometer gyroscope.

Top man Marc, I will analyse everything you have said and get back to you , but whats yr thoughts on the system working fine including all of the above when I turn the key off and re start the engine ?

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
For the reasons I mentioned at the beginning of my last post So if the ESP system is not lighting as faulty at engine start and staying on, then either the conditions triggering the fault (likely to occur when you start driving) have not happened as yet.

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
After doing a scan yesterday ive got the P1536 fault code on the EDC16CP39 Brake contact signal, now this is normally associated with my issue so worth looking into , The EDC16CP39 is the main ECU is it not ? on the sub menu Lexia says
Non Coherence between the 2 brake pedal signals
any idea on the part for this is it just the brake pedal switch ?
thanks

The EDC16CP39 is the engine ECU.
Item 10 is the Toe Board Assembly Brake switch. It normally comes as a kit with a modified loom and is part number: 453467.
Eurocarcare do one, that shows the loom £27 inc. VAT.

Simple (but, I believe, related) question. Do the brake lights work?

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
Perhaps I wasn't explaining myself very well. The computer systems are reasonably clever. With ignition on, the systems self-check themselves. If all is well off you go no worries. But, if a fault or condition occurs that can trigger a fault, later during driving, the system will deactivate some features and go into a backup safe mode.
You wouldn't want the ESP system to be activated if some of the sensor data it received was incorrect or missing.... otherwise it may make the wrong corrections or brake the wrong wheels, which could cause a skid or collision...
So there may be something that is only triggering the fault once the car is moving - when it starts getting input from the gyroscope or the steering wheel angle sensor or the abs wheel sensors etc. etc.. Once the car is stopped and the ignition turned off, then restarted, it goes through the same self-checks again. That's what I meant by an intermittent fault that may only show when certain conditions are met when driving for example.

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
Yr absolutely correct Marc, I did a Lexia scan with all faults off the dash and engine running and guess what Lexia brought up all faults. Even tho thay were no faults showing on the dash.. I think it's going to be really hard to track this issue down and I thought of going to Citroen to ask them just to do a scan and tell me what they think it is as my thoughts are .. they know Lexia and all these codes better than any mechanic..

Re: C5 X7 Wiring diagrams
Hi!
I hope my question is in the scope of this topic.
I have late 2011 production Citroen C5 (3.0 V6 HDi) with left hand drive. There are 3 blank buttons on the right side of the wheel (which i know is used in later C5). On my unit, behind those buttons there are some pre wiring done by factory. Can you help me figure it out where the wiring goes/what could it do, @GiveMeABreak?
Its a brown plug, PIN 4-5 and 10-11 are occupied.
I think two buttons are prewired from those 4 pins. My hunch: 1 pin is ground, 1+1 pin for button switches and last pin is a led status indicator for one of the button.
Any help would be much appreciated!
