DS5 Interior Blower dead
Hi Everyone, first time post, and needing some advice,
After 18 months of carefree enjoyable driving, my DS5 is starting with issues. the main one being the Heater
The interior heater has finally given up the ghost after being intermittent. if ran on full it would cut out, but its been running if not on top speed.
Then, its finally given up the ghost and wont come on at all, on any speed, heat, or vent
at -6 degrees this morning my commute is became difficult
Any suggestions as to the cause? Ive tried to research myself and maybe its the heater resistor? Whereabouts is this on the car> Mines an RHD 2013 165bhp 2.0 HDI
There is some heat coming out of the vents, but this isnt being pushed out by the fan.
So, how do I fix it? Like I said this has been coming on for a while, but now its cold, I need the heaters on!
Any advice is appreciated.

Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
Hi and Welcome
First off pop your VIN up - we need to see exactly what options your DS5 is fitted with.
There are several possibilities, but will depend on options fitted:
Initially, and without further diagnostics. it may be likely the blower control module could be the culprit.
Once I have your VIN I can put a diagram up for it.

There are several possibilities, but will depend on options fitted:
- If the Blower control module is faulty, usual symptoms are full blast or nothing.
- There may be a supplementary air heating resistance unit which helps provide some heat until the engine warms up. - but this is separate to the blower control module.
- Lastly, the bearings of the blower motor itself can get a little moisture, that can seize them in between use. *see note below
- The Climate / Heater Control ECU may be faulty.

Once I have your VIN I can put a diagram up for it.

Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
Hi Marc, thanks for the prompt reply! I will add the VIN when I get home
A couple of weeks ago, the fan would cut out if on full speed for a few seconds, but run fine on lower settings, with same high heat.
And its got worse then to now nothing at all, so I think its a part thats depreciated, or lost connection somewhere, which is why I was looking to replace the resistor first, due to similar occurrences I have read on the Citroen C5

Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
Initially it sounds like the Blower Control Motor, but... unusual if it has been operating across speeds intermittently - the resistance component of the blower control motor will normally work or not if it has gone, hence the all or nothing scenario...
The air heating resistance is a completely separate component and won't have anything to do with the fan speeds - that will just refuse to provide any air heating when it goes, relying solely on engine temp, so will take longer to demist and get any heat in the cabin.
If you have the reg number - that will do fine, I can get the VIN from the reg and will mask it when you post it.

Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
Well there seems to be an issue with the VIN I have from the registration - it is not being decoded by PSA's database. So when you do get home, do us a favour and double check it manually please then pop it up so I can compare it with the one returned. Very odd....
That aside, it seems on the DS5 that the control module for the fan is incorporated onto the actual motor as can be seen in the diagram:
It is item 6 and is part number: 6441CQ

Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
Thanks for your support, last thing, where is this situated in the car? Im assuming it sits behind the dash, and behind the main unit?
Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
Also, it was only intermittent at the top speed of the fan, anything lower was fine. Which has made me think its an electrical feed issue, or something overloading. but the heating system is not my speciality! neither are electrics!

Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
You'll probably need to get access to it by removing the lower console side trim
Ther are 2 bolts at (2) and the connector is shown at (a)

Ok! Thanks so much for the help, wondering if anyone could help with part numbers for my specific model, as its failed the MOT dramatically
Most of the faults are easily sorted, but theres so many variations on the parts I need Im a little stuck
My Reg is KU13 CKL, and I need a rear disc and a front coil spring. Any ideas where to go for the OEM part numbers?

Re: DS5 Interior Blower dead
ON another note, the blower seems to continue working at the lower speeds, but once turned up it goes for a few seconds then cuts out.

Ok, I have your VIN and I've masked your Reg number.
5002TK is the part number for your specific DS5 (Item 1) below. If you need any other parts on the diagram just shout.
The rear Discs are available in 2 versions - new original part, or new cheaper version. This is a kit (1) that contains A, B C & D
Original Part Number: 424946
Cheaper Part Number: 1619238880
