Hi Marc, I should practice what I preach, I was suspecting a burnt circuit board in the bsi unit, So I took it out and took it apart, no burnt area's . So I decided to check the fuses while it was on my desk, These are the fuses that my brother swears he had checked, sure enough a 20 fuse had blown, put it all together and it fired up, perfect. many thanks for the help.
Completely my own fault, do not trust anything my brother tells me.
Paul

Excellent - pleased that’s sorted and a cheap repair! I think your brother owes you a pint or two.

Asking again.

Yes but did the car start at all after you taped the key back up?

The key was not the problem, The problem was the blown fuse on the BSI module
