AX Rear brake adjustment guide ?

AX Rear brake adjustment guide ?

Who can point me to a good guide online.
All a bit "off" atm after new H-B cables/shoes fitted and butchered non-standard springs found etc.

They should be auto-adjusters on an AX Alasdair so if all is working properly they should sort themselves out after a push or three on the footbrake and several applications of the handbrake...

Thing is, getting the auto adjusters to work can be a game... I have been there many times

Have you a picture? I ask as there may have been several variants fitted...

If they look like the Saxo ones then I'll scan up the relevant BoL pages for you...

Long, long ago there was a procedure for getting the rear drums to auto-adjust by reversing fairly rapidly and heaving the handbrake on.
I have no idea if this was universal but it did work for me on many occasions.

No, don't be so hard on yourself Alasdair - it's not obvious and the BoL is terrible in its guidance... Had you read it you'd have been none the wiser...

Today's reading is from the Book of Saxo, Chapter 9, Verse 8 - which has identical rear brakes to the AX:
And the Lord of the Drum did speak, saying thou may find that it may be necessary to shorten the adjuster strut length, by rotating the strut wheel...
That's as clear as Somerset scrumpy then

BoL is only a source of laughter when read through our collective jaundiced eye - pity the por novice who, not unreasonably, believes it can all be taken as gospel.

Yes, on balance the BoL is funnier... Mind you, some threads on this very forum put up a good fight for the title ;)

That is the worrying part.... I think they may be in cahoots with the motor trade to drum up work for them...

Suggest you contact Ray Davies & ask if he can revise Vilage Green Preservation Society to include a name check for your new organisation.

I only learned they are actually wrong in places when I got a 2CV, prior to that the only fault I found was an over-fondness for removing things that weren't necessary for the job in hand.

However, just to put it into perspective, this from the GM manual on removing a Cadillac hazard switch, accompanied by a diagram, "1 2 3" &, just like Haynes, reassembly is the reverse - but expessed thus: "3 2 1"
