Factory Radio and silence
I have a 2012 C4 Grand Picasso fitted with the standard radio head. It works fine for awhile then goes into mute mode, Sometimes it will clear by pressing the mute button on the steering wheel or radio head. If that dosen't work then unplugging the unit and leaving it unplugged for a couple of days fixes it. No codes need to be entered as it's the correct unit for the car. Everything is then ok until the next episode. Anyone with ideas?

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
It would greatly help if you sent a Private Message or posted up your VIN, so I can determine the exact head Unit you have in the C4GP.

Re: Factory Radio and silence
Don't worry, I'll pick all that up from the VIN
Ok, so you have the standard RD45 MP3 / CD Player unit, & Hands Free Nomad Kit.
I have to say that these RD45 units commonly suffer from issues like the volume going up and down itself, no sound, CDs getting stuck, fried amplifer IC chip etc. I would of suggested a firmware upgrade - but there are no firmware upgrades for these units.
It could be that the mute button is sticking on the steering wheel control switch module (item 2 below), causing the random engagement of the mute function. Maybe some electrical contact cleaner under there might help. (Never undertake any maintenance with the battery connected - disconnect the battery for 10 minutes before doing any work around here to prevent accidental activation of the airbag module).

Re: Factory Radio and silence
Hi Marc, did as you said and all is well again Lucky I had a can of switch cleaner sat in my cupboard. Such a simple fix as well.
Thanks

Re: Factory Radio and silence
No worries Bob, there's such a lot of kit packed under there, I suspect it is easy for the steering wheel boss cover to get a bit stuck occasionally - especially with the contracting and expanding due to the heat / cold. Glad it's sorted.
