hi, my old 01 c5 2.2 4 speed auto has reached the end of the line, ive had it 6 years. i bought privately a 06 c5 2.0d 6 speed auto privately and i have a couple of questions-
the radio has a tel button, but ive no idea how to bluetooth it to a phone, when i search bluetooth from a phone it finds nothing-any ideas.
secondly and much more worrying is the gearbox issue. when driving at about 40mph, if you try to accelerate hard, when the box kicks down theres an awful noise and vibration for a split second but if you do it in semi auto theres nothing, also ive noticed on a hill if you try to pull away it takes a while to get going.
i suppose start by changing the oil, i read somewhere something about 2 solenoids-what are they?
any suggestions would be appreciated

Re: new- to me- c5 problems
I'd say a gearbox oil change is in order as it probably hasn't been done before. I'm guessing you've got the Aisin 6 speed box.
With regards to the phone, I'm not sure however I think some C5's have their own sim tray for taking calls.

Re: new- to me- c5 problems
thanks for the reply. i took it to an auto transmission specialist this morning. he plugged it into his scanner and there was no fault codes then drove it for a few miles, had a look at which box it was-cant remember what he called it- and told me that is was almost certainly the valve body.
he said about 800 euros new and the remanufactured ones were rubbish. he then told me that it,d be about 700 euros to fit and that it still might not fix the problem and the box itself may have to be rebuilt another 1000euros.
looking at videos on youtube, it looks like about a 3 hour job to change.
i can quite happily change the engine or gearbox on my transit rwd so im not mechanicly frightened. so should i just change the valve body or could it be something else?

Re: new- to me- c5 problems
First, I would get it 'properly' diagnosed with a knowledgeable mechanic who has a 'Lexia' - that is the PSA group bespoke diagnostic and can provide far more information that generic or third party 'scan tools'. That is the only way to try and get a fuller picture of possible causes, not the 'could be this, could be that scenario' - that's a sure way to end up out of pocket and may not cure the problem. But as EDC5 has already said - the best thing you can do is to give it a proper gearbox oil change, which can eliminate certain problems - especially if you don't know if it has previously been changed.
As for your telephone issue - post up your VIN so I can determine the exact system and capabilities. The telephone system is internal that requires a separate SIM card inserted into the head unit (vertical slot to the right) - and does not support bluetooth. Bluetooth was not available on the C5 until the Mark III (X7).

That looks OK, and it appears to have all of the software. However, Easy Diagnostics also do a Lexia clone (with all of the cables and software), and will (with this code: FCFMEMBER15) sell it to you with a 15% discount.

That appears to be a brand new valve body (ifyou have the AM6 gearbox). I'm not sure how hard it would be to change but the access doesn't seem too bad. You do need a Lexia for that operation though I beleive as the gearbox ECU needs to re-learn the new solenoid valves.

Re: new- to me- c5 problems
Ok, so looking at your specs, there is no Telephone Kit supplied, so you just have the RD4 unit. This unit can support a CD-Changer - but in place of the CD, some have put a Yatour or similar device in that provides MP3 playback via a USB port or an MMC / SD Card - item here:

They do have another model that supports Bluetooth:

Although on the later one, you'll have to make sure the unit is not made by 'Continental' - if Magneti Marelli you should be ok - removing the head unit should identify it.
