RF Shielding......in-car power supply

This is reportedly a good one......it emits (as do all my others) massive interference

How would you install shielding to this.....as I am sick of paying for these

Wrap it with insulating tape and then copper sheet.

Alternately look at my blog and install usb as a standalone unit.

Or install a 12v socket further away as per the s2 xantia which has one on the passanger sode if the center console.

Take a couple of turns of the output cable round a ferrite ring as near as possible to the supply. Most of the radiation is probably from the cable.
If that doesn't help, build your own using a 5V regulator and a couple of capacitors.

But shouldn't the output already be shielded? All my usbs are.

Has your car had a heater matrix alasdair? You seem to have more peoblems with this than others. I wonder if your fag lighter supply has been put back next to radio cables.

Full 12 volt Power out is to a Multi Port Block

Ferrite ring already installed.....does not make any difference

Output is OK from the sat nav charger (TomTom)....no radio (reception) interference .....so it is NOT the main 12v fag supply causing the problem.

No noise from the car, no radio (reception) interference or noise from alternator etc when no bullet chargers installed (using for phone and dash-cam)

As soon as I plug in any (I now have 5 of the fracking things) these bullet chargers I get radio "hiss/crackle" as they interfere with radio reception (Both C5 and Xantia suffer) which is very weak in my area.

Work well, with no interference. Fused.
Unit is a snap-in device, easily slotted into an empty dash location or switch blank.
When powered up, the sockets are illuminated with a couple of blue LEDs; these are easily clipped out if not needed (front fascia clips off).
I fitted a switch nearby, to isolate.

Oh Alasdair you just saved me from so many issues here.
Our plumbing is constantly changing to demands, I had no idea you could get anti seize ptfe tape.
Just ordered a box of it, well the company did.
I think it will be handy when I get to building my electric guitar up as well.
