Don't buy that repair stand Jim, I had a look and it's not great. You can have my park one in return for all the help you've given me and the ongoing support with my Xantia

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
That's a deal James Thanks for warning me... I looked at one in Decathlon a while back and it was frankly rather poor... Likely the same one with a different name on it...elma wrote:Don't buy that repair stand Jim, I had a look and it's not great. Likewise, anyone is advised to avoid the Lidl Dansette-style retro record player they have at the moment...
Not good at all...

I shall drop it to you along with Gabriels clutch cable on my return drive as planned already Jim.
In fact I've got a good collection of prity top end cycling tools including headset remover + installation tools, star nut setter, specialist spanners, Bottom bracket tools etc. It took a lifetime to collect so you can't have them but if you'd like to be there custodian until I cycle again you are welcome to have a long term loan.
I have to clear my container out in N Wales so you'd actually be doing me a favour.

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
I bought some pc speakers from Lidls once. They were not good, very tinny and no midrange or base. Admittedly they were cheap so I took them to work and one of the lads put them on his works PC.

A lot of their cheap electronics is just re-badged mediocre Chinese stuff sadly which is a shame as so much of their other stuff is, for the price, pretty well excellent...demag wrote:I bought some pc speakers from Lidls once. They were not good, very tinny and no midrange or base.
Their record player has class D audio amplifiers for heaven's sake. That's just a travesty when it come to reproducing vinyl

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
As there has been mention of motorcycles elsewhere on the forum I thought I would mention that next Thursday (30/03) Aldi have a few motorcycle bits;

Re: Lidl and Aldi Car accessories
Well I can state that their little 12V oil transfer pump does what it says on the tin. In one steering box oil top up it's already been worth its £12.99 pricetag!
It seems really to be aimed at pumping oil out of engines (though I've already got a vacuum based pump for that), but I reckon is much more useful for pumping oil IN to things.
States in the manual that it's not meant to be used for draining gearbox oils, not sure whether due to the viscosity or potential for metallic debris to damage the pump. It did just fine pumping a few hundred ml of EP90 into my steering box and back axle. Reckon the biggest challenge with the factory setup is that the pickup tube is quite narrow. Reckon it would cope just fine with a wider hose.
Was going to use it to check the gearbox oil as well - but couldn't get the level plug out...
That's my problem not the pump though! Definitely will be keeping that around, useful bit of kit.

I wouldn't bother with the baby welder but the inverter one will probably be ok. I might take a look at the dashcam as well.
