Clutch C5 diesel

I came home from holiday on Monday with no problems and hav'nt used the car until today (Friday). Got in started the engine went to put my foot on the clutch an the pedal is flat to the floor.
So would this be the cable gone or could it be the actual clutch.
If its the cable how hard is it to fit a new one?

What year, model and engine is it?

I had a feeling the C5 diesels used a hydraulic clutch not cable operation.

Mine is definitely hydraulic.

Yep, all hydraulic. Could be the slave cylinder which lurks under the battery area.
09 C5 X7 2.0Hdi Exclusive in Perla Nera black (the best colour) :wink:

Check the fluid level, it may have a small leak, once it's topped up, physically lift the pedal by hand & pump it, pedal will likely return.

Does that mean it's not a sealed system like the Xantia hydraulic clutch?

Had a look and it is a hydraulic clutch couldnt find slave cylinder as didnt have any tools to remove engine covers, but i did see a small pipe (Like the vacuume tube which went from the carb to the distributor on old cars) that had perished at a joint, could that have anything to do with it?

There's a bleed nipple on the slave which seems to indicate it isn't sealed.
Never looked for the master cylinder/reservoir though.

Update: Whent out for a look this morning checked the fluid level which was OK & dont know why but I pulled the clutch pedal up and it stayed there, so started the car and put it in gear and it pulled away ok, So I have no idea what the problem was. Can anyone identify What the vacuume tube that has perished is for? (See Picture Above)

Were those pipes connected together ?
have they been blocked off ?
what are the pipes connected to ?
where on the car did you take the photo?, its a bit close to be able to tell.

and lastly, do you have knowledge of Citroen suspension ?, just so we can judge for the technical content/advice in any of the reply's given.
( I know due to my "newness" to this myself, a big technically correct reply can be daunting :) )

I did think they were connected together at first but after having another look they go onto something screwed to the air box
Theres a couple of photos to show where the pipes are and what they connect to.

Close up is of a solenoid. One hose should go to the vacuum supply, other goes to one of the inlet hose control flaps?
I've disconnected all of mine (don't try this right now, another subject) but this is part of a system which bypasses the intercooler for dpf regenerations. If you've any other perished hoses it will cause gremlins, looks like it's worth checking.
As I said mine are removed so this is from memory, I stand to be corrected.

what you described with the clutch pedal suggests air in the slave or at least in the hydraulic line but the fact that it stopped suggests it may be a perished seal the slaves on the c5 are quite cheap off mister auto around 30 euro or £20 as for the pipes they are vacuum pipes as stated earlier by monkey feet.
