There are 2 supplies and fuses for the radio (via ignition switch and direct). Is the display completely blank?

Where are we going with "Is the display completely blank?"? - I ask because I have a completely blank screen on an otherwise fully operational stereo.

Yes, I want to know too as my Activa wireless randomly looses power, just as it's been switched off...

It may have the same root cause...

Haha... me shy :) I removed all fuses from under dash.....used a small air line ( very carefully). cleaned everything and replaced all fuses. The car was full of 20 year old "grot" though. touch wood the radio is now ok [-o< just basically remove everything and thorough clean. Terry.

Excellent =D> Thanks Terry!

Fusebox issues are starting to become quite common now. I must go do same to mine...

Be aware that the fuse panels can also suffer from unreliable internal soldered joints (generally repairable)

Really? Like wiper intermittent relays? There's a (nasty) surprise.

Seriously, I'm always horrified at the crappy quality of automotive electrics. A dozen years ago I was appalled to find that the internal circuitry in my Montego's rear light units was stamped out of electroplated sheet steel - which went rusty when a bit of moisture got in. Not repairable, new light unit - excessive cost cutting in the last years of sorry story of BL/Rover. Saw the same problem a couple of weeks ago on an Audi A6 7 or 8 years old - German quality :rofl2: eye-watering price for a new cluster.
2012 Subaru Forester - capable but no magic carpet
2011 Grand C4 Picasso VTR+ 1.6HDi - not missed!
1995 Xantia Estate SX 1.9TD in Vert Vega "The Green Lady" - sadly missed
