Bendix Brake Pads

Unread post by cox377 »

Hello Guys,

Had a look on GSF for break pads, they are coming out at 35+vat, never paid that for pads in my life.

I've just had a look, the calipers are bendix, I assume there narrows my search down some what when looking on europarts and ebay etc.

Hi, sorry it's a 1998 TD xantia.

I was wondering, if they say there for Bendix then there is only one type.

Much appreciated as always

I've had two TD Xantia's each with different sized front discs. The first had the 266mm discs, the second the 283mm, there is also a third size of disc, 288mm but to my knowledge the 1.9 TDs don't get that size of disc..

GSF list the following types for front pads for the Xantia.

N64019 is for 266 mm discs : £21.50
N64036 is for 283 mm discs : £25.60
N64023 is for 288 mm discs : £27.15

Best confirm the size of your discs and ask GSF which is right for your car to make sure.

In theory, it was only the estates that got the larger discs, but in practice my '97 1.9 TD wasn't an estate and came with those discs, the first set of discs and pads I bought for it had to go back to be swapped!

 CoXen, You can add your car specs to your signature by editing your "Profile"

Is this 1.9 TD or year 98 TD? Mine 2.0 16V has 283mm.

Anyway 1.9 TD front disc should be 288 mm (disc thickness 28 and minimum 26 mm) in the same category as V6.
If it is 1.9 D then it's 266 mm (20.4 mm, 18.4 mm).

Above are given all 3 different sizes of BENDIX front disc (Xantia).

As I mentioned, I've had two TD Xantias and they were both hatchbacks but most importantly, they had different sired front brakes.

Sorry, I should have read more carefully through the replies, I just didn't notice.

Here is a Xantia Brake Specifications chart. I hope it'll be helpful for other forum members (and guests) as well :) .
(rear disk size is same for all models, that's interesting)
Also 2.0 HDi is seen in both 288 and 283 #-o

IIRC that is because the HDi 90 uses 283mm and the HDi 110 the slightly larger 288mm.

I've never seen 288 on a 1.9 TD. The later S1's usually had 283's, identified by them having 15 inch wheels not 14 inch like the smaller engined petrols.

The brakes on my Activa are 288, and are much thicker than my old TD, plus the caliper design was different, it had pins not bolts.
