Replacing C5 sidelight bulbs.
I've got a C5 with xenon headlights - and also a dud sidelight bulb on the driver's side. I've had a quick look but it seems impossible to get in there. Can somebody tell me that I don't have to remove the front bumper!!!

Job done! But not till after the front bumper was removed. Cit dealer wanted £95 to replace the bulb and even charged me £6.82 for the bulb. Since completing the job I've found http://www.consumabulbs.com/files/bdet.php?id=170wheeler wrote: Have you got or priced the bulbs yet ? i don't know if anyone else does them yet & they are over a fiver from Citroenfor a tiny sidelight bulb.
do them at £3.95 incl. p&p.
It's bizarre that you have to resort to this to change a sidelight bulb!

Wow
hope my side light bulb never goes.
Talking Bumbers I bought a Citroen reversing kit off ebay and have to take the rear bumber off for it, if I had known that I would not have bothered though having got it now will attempt it, the book says 2hrs so expecting 4 hrs and alot of fustration.
Has anyone ever fitted one?

Fitted a set of Valeo reversing sensors to my 54 reg series II C5 about a year ago. No need to remove the rear bumper bar: reversing sensors can be easily fitted in the existing bumper cavities, and wiring can go through the ventilation cavity under the rear bumper bar (nearside). Just lift of the boot carpets to get a good view and access.mop wrote:Has anyone ever fitted one?
All up, it took me about 1.5hrs, with the hardest bit being identifying the reversing light wire to hook up the control box to.

The facelifted C5 has pre-drilled holes blanking covers that simply lift off. Fitting the sensors is the easy bit.
Can anyone help with finding the reversing light wire on a 2006 C5 hatchback?

The reversing (genuine Citroen part) kit I have use microwaves it a strip that you attach to the full length of the bumper (advertised as no drilling required) . Wish I bought the older one now as you'se have pointed out with a mk II C% it comes predrilled.

Hmmm. the system you've linked to only claims to start detecting within 80cm, which is a bit too close if you're not aware that there's an obstruction! My system (with four sensors) cost £14 via Amazon, and detects obstacles 1.5m away.
I can see now why you'll need to remove the bumper, but it's not difficult as long as the fastners haven't seized

maybe just go and buy one that makes use of pre drilled holes.

SO many modern cars need the fronts removing to gain acess to the lights. Do they not expect the car to outlast the light bulbs or something!
I remember Renault wanted £140 to fint a new headlamp bulb in our new shape scenic, as the front needed to be removed. I managed to fit it without removing anything. I knew having skinny arms would be useful!
