Found my way to Maplins- so much for an electrician mate- havent spoken to him for 2 years turns out he now drives buses for a living
Got myself a new crimp tool (£24 you were not joking were you Jim
) and the crimps all set to do the job but no 50 amp wire available
Will have to postpone till later in the week

Or Richer Sounds may have some at a reasonable price - I bought my 30A speaker wire there and it wasn't too bad - about £5 a metre for bi-wire (no, not that sort of bi ) you only need a single so should be about ¼ of that price.red_dwarfers wrote:I picked up some high ampage wire in the audio section of Halfrauds

Right still no luck in finding the right wire
I have been told i can get some 50 amp wire but i could do with some guidance cos im a little confused
Does the thickness of the wire make any difference or providing it is rated correctly will any size do
Have tried 2 local motor factors and CEF and still no joy-just thought it would be a simple job and yet im struggling to get the wire
I have had a look here in particular Ref 97 and Ref 120 .Is it possible that this is the correct wire

In the website you mentioned Colin, Ref 33 in the thinwall section will be just the job I reckon.
It's 33 amp stuff but given the blower/HRW is on a different feed, this should be adequate.
I was being a bit too on the conservative side with a 50 amp rating, completely forgetting it does not carry the hugely high current taken by the blower and HRW
Give the factors another try for that stuff...

Not sure if im going to need to rewire the Blower/HRW feed as well yet and that is a 60 amp fuse...may try that web site and order a selection from thinwall Refs 33/39/50 just so i have some in stock
Will report back on thursday away again tomorrow night

Hi Clogzz as im not too clever with electrics am i correct in assuming that if i run two 25A wires into each crimp and crimp that to the single original wire all should be okClogzz wrote:In electronics, we find parallel wiring in high current circuits.
Two 25A wires will carry a bit more than 50A.
