Front door lock's are a good starting point, after that the wiring where it has to bend going from body to door, then the central locking controll, normally by the side of the handbrake lever inside the console.
And of course any connector's on the wires.

Try the thermo switch screwed into the radiator, right hand side looking from the front, plug has 3 connections +12, slow,fast. To test the fans connect the +12 to either of the other two connections. You will probably find that the fans are OK and the thermo switch in the radiator is duff (get one from andyspares about £12)

FWIW, if you fit a timing light to the car and take it to slghtly above a fast idle, check as to where the light & pointer are staying. If they fluctuate wildly, then the bushes are worn in the distributor shaft.
Possibly something to file under useless information but may just save you a dizzy cap or three

Hi Shaun - Your squeak could just be a mis-aligned piece of bodywork, on the other hand if the noise is more 'creak' than 'squeak', then it might be rear arm bearings. What sort of mileage has your car done? How do the wheels look from the rear? Are they leaning inwards at the top?

Any company offering tuning on the XUD9TE 1.9td engines are basically doing the same thing as far as I can see. Sound's like a later model ZX with an EGR (exhaust gas recirculating) valve, there is usually a covering of black oil in the intercooler and it's pipes, there shouldn't be pool's of the stuff though and especially not at that mileage.

Hi Xantia - What brakes have you on the rear? When my 205 pulled to the left the trouble was down to a slight leak on the rear wheel cylinder. I wouldn't have thought because one circuit of the system was faulty, it would have caused your problem since each circuit works on diagonal wheels.

Hi Gareth - If your car only does short runs with little chance of getting thoroughly warmed up, it could be that it's condensation. Tell us more!

Don't know if this will help but I had a similar probem with my ZX.
One of the rear wheels had the same camber as you mention-although it wasnt touching the inner arch. The bearing in the axle was so far gone that apparently it had cut into the tube it is mounted in and was beyond repair. I ended up fitting a complete new rear axle assembly.

I removed the carpet and interior side trim from the boot on my '92 apparently rust-free ZX 1.9 D Aura to find try to find the reason why the back windows were steaming up whenever I washed my car.

Hi Chris - My Saxo is a 1998 (so it may be different) but the heads are H4, the front fogs are H1, the side repeater are 5w and the direction indicators are 21w yellow.

I agree about the manual, I have a problem with the engine cooling fans not working, did you get any joy with your problem?
Is there anywhere in the Bristol area that you found, I will be passing through soon and might need it!

Don't know if they do pad's for that model but green stuff is made by EBC.

Ive got a ZX 1.8i Furio (3 door) that has been lowered 50mm and is running 16 s with 195 45 16 tyres. The gap between the top outer edge of the tyre and the inner arch is about 15-20mm each side.

You're either looking for a Kenwood or a Sony unit. Both of these manufacturers offer an adapter to allow connection of the steering wheel controls.

Ohmygod It's happened again!!!!
After a couple of trouble free years (caliper and disk renewed which seemed to sort it) it has started again! Offside wheel mad hot and a strong smell of burning. Obviously brake binding again but anybody go any idea WHY?????

Be Brave be confident and you will get through this. I have had similar dilema's with a xantia. If I remeber correctly to replace all spheres I was quotes over 360pounds but it may be more 'depending what we find'

Absolutley correct, parking up with the handbrake on with hot brakes is asking for warped discs. If when you stop you brake fairly sharply and then hold the brakes on, it is normal for the car to then rise up.
This is because the rear suspension geometry means that the suspension sinks as you brake and then remains sunk when the car is stopped, the height corrector then applies more pressure to the rear suspension to correct the height. Then...

I did the same thing in my Xantia. If memory serves, you hold down the Band button for about 4 seconds and you then can enter the code again.

I'm assuming that you've got a Xantia? You don't say.
If so, failure of the clutch pedal clip is a common problem.The clip, although plastic, copes Ok until either the clutch gets old, and heavy, or the cable becomes worn. The resultant heavy pedal causes the clip to break off at the cable end.
I've never fitted one, but there a couple of people...

You need to get the front sphere's off and look at the damper size stamped on them, it sound's like they are way to large.
The fill pressure is stamped on the out side of the sphere, usualy near the fill valve.

Hi Dan - Sounds as though you haven't got sufficient tension on the belt. Tighten the adjuster until you have only around 5mm of movement under firm thumb pressure on the belt midway between the pulleys.

No - it's quite alright to change the fronts and leave the rears till later. In fact, on my Xantia estate I had the front spheres recharged last year. They checked the rears, and finding them OK, told me to come back in about nine months. But having found that I could fit new for the same price as a recharge, have only recently replaced the rears....
