106 Diagnostic socket

Post by chris1000 »

I have poor performance from my 1997 1.1 106. The Engine management warning light keeps coming on indicating a problem.
I can't find the diagnostic socket, any ideas.

the diagnostic socket changed to a 16 pin EOBD socket around 97/98 so it may be the later type which is just next to the bonnet release lever under the glovebox.

chris1000 if you get to find out what's wrong with your pug I'd be interested because my '94 1.1 is also having similar symptons. Although my warning light doesn't stay on, the running is a bit erratic i.e the revs go up and down at idle. It also feels like it's misfiring and doesn't seem as nippy. A main dealer once said it was probably the catalytic convertor, then suggested the ECU was gone so wanted to charge a small fortune to 'try out a replacement', but it's always managed to pass emissions on the MOT for the last 3 years so can't be running that badly.
