Airconditioner misbehaving

Unread post by Ceenine »

The right hand central air vent is delivering ambient temperature air with the a/c on in my 2016 DS4 Crossback (left hand central vent delivering cold air). This car has the two zone system. My Diagbox comes up with the code B131C1 which talks about “blower control problem” somesuch (forgotten the exact words). The external temperature was 23deg. C and the a/c was set on 18deg.C. Seems to me that the system might need more refrigerant although the error message seems to indicate otherwise. Before I go to a specialist, any ideas?

Although the car is nine years old and has travelled 122,000 km, the a/c has not had a lot of use given that we live in a temperate climate.

When our C5 was getting ready for regassing one side would not cool as much. If yours has not been done in 9 years it may need doing.

You should give your aircon a 10-15 minute run every week regardless of your needs. The best way to keep the whole system functioning correctly is to use it and thereby stop parts getting stuck through never being moved. It may be you have a flap actuator problem for the non working side. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Thank you for your highlyconsidered reply. Yes, I am cognisant of the need to use the a/c on a regular basis to maintain its functionality, just like human parts. :-D

Any clue as to where I can locate the actuator for this function. I have the glovebox :disassembled ready for action awaiting for direction from you or even others.

Thanks for more replies. The whole climate control is certainly a complex bit of kit. Interesting that it had a date label only one month prior to build date and made in the Czech Republic. That is a good example of “just in time” assembly.

I shall try a bit more fiddling before I call in the regas brigade.
