C4 Grand Picasso Mk2 No seatbelt chime / beep

Unread post by oldbill »

Hi, Dash indicator is fine but no sound at all. Diid Sound a bit 'croaky' before it went silent. Is there a little beeper or speaker somewhere? oldbill

Which year and engine spec is your car? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

The speaker is in the stalk / steering column top unit. There was a recent thread about a similar fault - in theory it's a sealed unit and has to be replaced, but possibly if you are a dab hand with the soldering iron you might be able to fit a speaker.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, this is really great and comprehensive advice. I'm thinking it is the little speaker thats died. I've always been comfortable using a soldering iron and I'm confident that I could replace it, what I am concerned about is that I might end up detonating the airbag squib! Do the plastic covers snap apart to give any sort of access or is it a 'steering wheel off and go from there' job?
