Citroen c5 x7 radio audio cutting out at random intervals

Hi, I have an RT6 radio with a Philips amp, and sometimes the audio cuts out randomly for a few seconds. Sometimes it happens frequently, other times not. Has anyone had a similar issue, and how did you fix it?

Is it cutting out on any particular audio sources such FM/DAB radio, aux, etc? Mine used to cut out on DAB after I installed a dash/reverse cam. The cables gave off RF interference until I wrapped baking foil around the cables to insulate them.

no, it cuts out on any source you are listening to for a few seconds

Since it happens on any sound source I would tend to suspect intermittent power supply issues. Maybe a poor connector or even a dirty fuse which is intermittently breaking the supply to the unit?

maybe, the fuse for the amp is in the engine bay if im right

If intermittent power issue, don't forget to check the ground side as well (and the pre-out / remote connections from the back of the stereo).
Might potentially also be dry solder joints in the amp.

I removed the radio and checked all the connections, but didn’t find anything unusual. Then I took out the amplifier — again, nothing suspicious, just some dust, which I cleaned. I also removed and cleaned a dirty fuse. The problem hasn’t come back since, so I guess one of those things did the trick.
