Can't load smeg software onto picasso 2

Hi all, Please help. No matter what I seam to do, my picasso 2 2013 will not read the usb pen drive with software/firmware upgrade, the sat nav says no files for this route, i live in france and it is a french car, how can't it have france maps? Also it reboots at least once every trip, and it's driving me crazy, closest it has come to loading is, no music found on drive. Car has original software/firmware. Pictures attached.

What size is the pen drive?
Is it formatted in FAT32?
Are you using a Windows computer?
What are you trying to upgrade? The firmware or the maps?

Can you post a screenshot of the contents of your pen drive?

The rebooting could be an early sign of failure of the head unit. Is it worse in the summer compared to winter?

Hi, Thanks for reply. I've tried 3 different pen drives I'm now on a 4gb, it is fat32 ,yes I'm using windows computer, I want to update firmware and maps, it looks like 2013 original setup, it's very slow, but can't navigate anywhere at all, the only thing it has done is say there are no music files on this drive, which is kind of progress but not what I need.

Sorry missed the contents of pen drive, ive have had every combination of contents i can think of, full zipped download, unzipped download showing folder of contents, then folder saying smeg upg

I can't seem to find how to upload a photo, now that ive already done it, as for what I'm trying to update, ive just done what I read on the internet

Hi Carlos

To add a photo go to the 'Attachments' tab at the bottom of your text box and click it. Then click 'Add Files' and you will be able to select a file from your PC and attach it to your post. Once attached you can embed it in your post by putting the cursor where you want the picture to appear and then clicking the 'Place Inline' button next to your pictures name. You can also add a caption for the picture in the text box to the right of the 'Place Inline' and 'Delete File' buttons. Good luck

If you're using the Quick Reply box then you have to click on Full Editor & Preview just below the box to be able see the Attachments tab.

Sorry paul, I'm not really sure what the contents of the zip are, I'm new to this and it's all a bit confusing, so that is why I've asked for help from 1 what to download and 2 how exactly upto load it onto my car, so yes I could be trying to update the firmware and maps at the same time

Anyway, back to your problem. As I said above the rebooting may be a sign of the unit failing. You didn't say whether it's worse in the summer compared to winter.

Looking at the two photos you posted it looks to me like you copied the firmware folder over including the folder it was within. I haven't done any updating of firmware but I think that the folder SMEG_PLUS_UPG should be in the root of the pen drive. However...

You're updating from a very early version indeed. Unless you're having any problems I would suggest updating your maps first to see how that goes and then update the firmware later if need be. And I wouldn't go for the most modern firmware first either, I think I would go to to the earliest available which is SMEG_5.4.B.R6.

I will send you a PM soon with a link to a post with both map and firmware updates. As the first post says, do NOT follow the links in the PDF, they are out of date. It's not my PDF and I can't update it so follow the links in the post itself. The PDF is still valid for the process involved though.

Don't try to update both maps and firmware at the same time. It will not work.

Thanks paul, very much appreciated, as for the car being worse in summer, I wouldn't know ive only owned it for 2 months, everything to do with the unit is incredibly slow, it plays the radio OK, it plays music via iPhone ok, but switching between say the radio and satnav is sometimes 2 mins before it happens, the satnav does not do anything anyway other than think about it, so everything other than satnav works, when it loads. Thank you.
