Having worked in a garage we used the same oil for every vehicle. There's no way you can store all the different types. There was a post about oil a few years ago showing a graph, try searching for it.

Our Cactus uses the same oil and I get the Total oil at a reasonable price via ebay. There may be other brands that are suitable but I find it easiest to use the one Citroen recommend. I get the oil filter from a Citroen dealer so I know it is right, plus the sump plug washers are relatively cheap from them.

this is what im thinking , garage's must just use a generic oil type , looking at opie oils web site they would need 20+ drum's of oil for different types of vehicles etc , Make's me wonder if my vehicle has actually got the correct oil in it or not :?

If you went to a Citroen dealer they have a limited number of engine types so you would expect them to not need lots of different oil drums. It is possible a non dealer garage servicing all sorts of makes might use other brands of oils or the same brand/spec for all their services. Our dealer service receipts give the oil type/spec used on them so if they have used something different and there is an engine problem they might get found out.

Shoving any old oil in a modern engine is a bad idea. I rather suspect this is the cause of many of the early welt belt failures. The OP's car will be a 1.5 in fact, with the under spec cam chain in the head, so the correct oil is important, and it certainly needs to be a DPF specific oil. The cost differential is marginal really if you shop around. Having said that, the youtubers LR Time swear by 10W40 in the Ford V6 diesel (which is also in some PSA cars) rather then recommended 10W30 as the thinner oil tends to lead to early main bearing failure.
