Hello fellow Citroen owners and experts. I'm the proud owner of a 2014 Citroen C4 grand picasso exclusive+ etg6 and must admit I'm actually liking the car considering I've downgraded from a 2011 range rover 4.4 overfinch. The reason is because my partner just passed her test and I wanted something cheap to insure for us both. A friend recommended this car and suits us both, especially the £20 year road tax instead of £780.
Anyway, came with full service history and been very well looked after. However, checking the software via the satnav screen, it shows it hasn't been updated since it left the factory which is 2014.
So a phonecall to Monsieur Citroen in Cardiff to ask how much for them to update the firmware and software. Their response, £595 and that's even if they couldn't update it. Well as you can imagine, I was rather stunned by the cost and very disappointed. I called a few Citroen specialists and they couldn't help either. My Citroen app doesn't show any updates so I'm at a dead end. So my question is, is there anybody on here who could help me with this in finding someone who could do all the updates etc etc? I'm very technically minded if I can do it myself via download.
Your help and input would be very appreciated and thank you in advance.

Software update of what? You probably mean for the head unit (radio/satnav) but could you confirm? Also, photos of the screen would help immensely.

Yes, it looks like both the firmware and the maps are original. Unless you're having problems I would caution against updating the firmware as there is a risk, albeit slight, of bricking the system. I will send you a PM regarding the maps. It may be tomorrow as I might not have time tonight.

Re: 2014 C4 grand picasso software updates
I updated the satnav software myself using a USB stick on my 2019 Grand Spacetourer. The Mycitroen app guided me to the download link for the "Citroen Update" software. It didn't work with a USB stick created on a Mac due to the dot files created by MacOS. So assuming you have a USB port on your car, and you can get Citroen Update software to prepare you a download, then use a PC to create the update or use a tool to delete dotfiles post creation on a Mac.

What is your VIN?
Buying the software updates (not the maps) from the dealer is normally very cheap, you can get them on a CD if your car still has a CD drive.
Last time i checked it was around £10
Will try to check for you if you give me your VIN.

For the benefit of anyone reading this I should point out that a 2019 vehicle will NOT have the same satnav as a 2014 vehicle.

Hello, maybe a bit late but still. Have a look here please.

I've installed a carplay module for about €530. I now have Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Spotify etc. No more expensive Citroen solutions for me. Hope it was still a bit of useful help for you.

You want to look for the SMEG+ 5.43r2 firmware update. It's a simple download and unzip on a USB, for free, fast and easy. I actually very recommend updating to it as it's improving responses time and reliability quite the bit.
