FAP regeneration indication

Unread post by Milushev »

Hello, I have the following case. I own a 2013 C5 2.0 and a 2016 C4 1.6. On both, I connected na LED to the side mirror heating to signal me during FAP regeneration. No issues with C5. However, it turned out that the C4 does regeneration without turning on the mirror heating . As a result, apparently after several unsuccessful regenerations, my check engine light came on with a message to repair the engine. After diagnose with Diagbox, it turned out to be a clogged filter (it didn't give any warning messages). I did a forced regeneration and everything is OK. Can anyone give me an idea where to get information when the car starts regenerating, so that it doesn't end up in emergency modes again. The car is with AdBlue software removed (if there is any relation). Things I have tried already to monitor: 1. Back window heater; 2 Glow plugs; 3. Radiator fan fast speed. None of them was ON during the last 3 regenerations.

Hello, you can easily see everything about FAP with FAP Application.
https://faplite.en.aptoide.com/app
For that you have to have a device like this.

Otherwise, regeneration can be noticed if you connect Led to the heater of the left rearview mirror.

Mihael_M, thanks for the reply, but like I wrote: On my C4 2016 the heater neither of the left side rear view mirror or the back window is working when there is regeneration process like the C5. About the FAP app - The idea is to make something like the LED on C5, not to check every time my phone or laptop every time I want to turn off the car.

As far as I know, everyone who monitors the regeneration via LED connects the LED to the heater of the driver's rearview mirror, which is on the left side of ours. There is no point in attaching it to other places like : 1. Back window heater; 2 Glow plugs; 3. Radiator fan fast speed .Likewise, I don't know what exactly was done when ADblue was turned off.

Mine connected to Drivers side mirror, Dont forget if you connect an LED it will only work 1 way, if you swap the wires round it wont work.

The LED was properly connected to the side mirror for over 7 months. When I press the window heater button, it starts to blink. My new hope is that the back window heater is powered separately by the ECU and is powered only when there is need to. Because I tried it once but the regeneration happened during a highway driving with 130km/h and AC on.

Today it did a regeneration. I intentionally did not turn on the air conditioning in the car. Driving in the city. Did not turn on the rear window heater. The radiator fan was working on low speed.
