timing belt c3 picasso 1.4 vti

Unread post by vituk369 »

Hello everyone,

My c3 picasso has now reached 82000 miles. What is the timing belt recommendation in your country?

Thanks,
Filippp

The petrol vti engines have a timing chain and not a belt. The chains do wear though and the first signs might be a loss of performance or the engine light coming on with fault codes for the timing not being right - this was the case on a C3 we had at about 50k miles.

Does your car have the same engine as mine?

I found very different indications online. Some say 10 years, some say 100000 miles!

100,000 miles (or more - up to 120,000) or 10 years, whichever comes first, is the standard service interval for most belts.

Note - belts not chains. And it specifically excludes the Puretech wet belt petrol engines.

Yes. Mine did this, then the timing chain broke and wrecked the engine about a minute later. I think it was on about 85k when that happened, always well maintained.

Our C3 was a 2010 with the 1.4 vti petrol engine.
