Peugeot 508 Hybrid4 2012 CAN mess

Unread post by Doom »

Hello,

I have a problem with Peugeot 508 Hybrid4. Somone try to brake into my own car and cut a few cables near to BSI and ECU when tried to start car probably. These cables looks like CAN bus wires. I don't see other end of cables, it happened yesterday's night. Today I was surprised a bit... Door lock is smashed and some cables are cutted. I cannot communicate via OBD - no communication with any module. That's why I want to ask you if anyone can help me locate CAN gateway and maybe you have some diagrams of BSI / ECU - I think this is the place where I should start.

My VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] I saw it can be useful.

If I can buy somewhere schematics / wiring diagrams then let me know. I'm ready to invest. This car will stay with me longer so I don't have problem to spend some money. Why I don't ask professional workshop? I have very bad experience and prefer to do it myself. I have unlimited time and know how to fix circuit boards or cables. I have many private stories how professional workshop make bigger mess (not one but many different in my area, even official Peugeot dealer).

That's very annoying! It will be difficult to trace via wiring diagrams, but assuming the cut wires are near each other you should be able to piece it back together - each wire has a number printed on it every few CMS - you just need to find these on each end and then rejoin the wires. Good luck!

Finaly issue was much easier than I thought :D I have GPS tracking device and it did the job, make a short between ground and some cable, when I remove it, I restored communication, battery is almost dead so I cannot check if car is starting yet, i have to charge it a bit longer.

Thank you very much RichardW, I didn't find where cutted cables should be connected because it looks like someone cut off some device but at least I have numbers so I can try to find them.

Numbers are:

R54 yellow 7031
R83 or RS3, blue, longer number is 14796
R82 or RS2, yellow and green, longer no. 10339
R89 or RS9, blue but thin, longer no 14796
R81 or RS1, red - longer number is not readable.

All of them are together.

I'll try to dig on the internet and this forum.

None of those wires have valid codes apart from 7031 right hand rear wheel speed sensor signal.

Do you have a picture of the cut wires & their location?
Seems like a bizarre thing to do if trying to steal the car considering this car could be fairly easily stolen just using the OBD socket.

photo attached, cables are near to BSI and ECU. On the photo you can see 3rd connector of ECU and cover of shock absorber - driver side (RHD).

OK, looks too neat to be attempted theft, i suspect these may be spare 'repair' wires. Im not familiar with the 508 but many Citroen & Peugoet vehicles have these
