Hi,
New to the forum - thanks for having me! Sorry if this has already been asked for my vehicle, I have had a search but not turned anything up.
I own a C4 Grand Picasso MkII 2017 reg. The low beam headlight throw is poor to put it mildly - high beams are great. I've adjusted the height of the bulbs using the Allan key adjuster so they are at the max 'up' position.
The only thing I can think of is that the bulbs want changing - but I cannot for the life of me work out which are the correct type of Bulbs for my low beams to replace the existing. How can I tell?
Any recommendations on the the best type / brand to replace? I'm okay with trading some longevity for better road illumination on the low beams. I'm not bothered about the colour either way.
I've searched all over for the correct bulb types and have not got anywhere conclusive, there seems to be conflicting information depending on where you look.
Thank you for any advice.

It usually gives the bulb type in the handbook. If you do not have the handbook have a look here viewtopic.php?t=63208
For halogen bulbs on page 301 it gives
Dipped beam headlamps (H7-55W).
2. Main beam headlamps (H7-55W).
3. Daytime running lamps/sidelamps
(4 light emitting diodes - LEDs).
4. Direction indicators (PWY24W).
5. Foglamps (H11-55W).
For xenon bulbs it gives
1. Directional dipped beam headlamps
(D5S-25W).
2. Main beam headlamps (H7-55W).
3. Daytime running lamps / sidelamps
(6 light emitting diodes - LEDs).
4. Direction indicators
(6 light emittng diodes - LEDs).
5. Front foglamps (H11-55W).

I sincerely don’t know why I didn’t think to check the handbook sorry!
Only question is how do I know if my vehicle is fitted with the Xenon’s or Halogens?

When you first switch Xenons on they take a second or 2 to get to full brightness whereas halogen will be at full brightness pretty much instantly.
Xenons must be fitted with a cleaning system like spray washers so if you dont have this you wont have xenons.
Xenon Headlamps normally have a high voltage warning on them somewhere around the bulb holder access.

The handbook is the last place most people would look so nothing to be sorry about. The xenon bulbs look a bit different to the H7 halogens. Since the main beams are H7 halogens in both cases, have a look in the lights through the front glass (plastic) and see if the main and dip bulbs look the same, if not you might have xenon dip beam.jonbclarke wrote: 04 Mar 2025, 15:30 I sincerely don’t know why I didn’t think to check the handbook sorry!

On my old Mk1 C5 with HID dipped beams, when you switched the headlamps on they gave a little waggle up and down as they adjusted themselves to be vertically aligned. You could see the beam pattern changing against a wall.

Almost certain you have normal halogens - are there separate dip and main bulbs? The dip lights on these are pretty poor, we run some slightly uprated bulbs - there are higher light output bulbs but they can have a very short life!

Hi all,
Thanks for the very kind replies - it's helped a lot and I'm very grateful.
I'm now more or less certain I have the halogens so will go and source some half decent Philips or Osram bulbs and see how we get on.
Thanks for the help all!
