I’ve just replaced the battery on my Citroen C4 Grand Picasso mk2, with this one
https://www.gsfcarparts.com/products/yb ... y-za042688
whilst following the BSI reset guide:
https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 51&t=61997
However the start stop function is not working as expected.
Full disclosure, the start stop was not working prior to the battery change. Citroen advised that the old battery was not maintaining its charge, and that I should replace it to resolve the issue.
The start stop symbol flashes 3 times before going out but does not engage.
Is there something else in need to do to reset it?
Many thanks
Adam

Re: Start stop not functioning after battery replacement
The new battery might need a charge, being on a shelf for a long time lets the voltage drop a bit. If you have a volt meter check it first thing before starting the engine, should be 12.7 volts if fully charged.

Re: Start stop not functioning after battery replacement
I've mentioned this elsewhere, but on your vehicle, it does not rely solely on the main battery for stop start! You have a separate system as shown below. This is all buried behind the front left wheel arch. Caution though, do not attempt to remove this yourself without properly discharging it! Best left to a dealer to sort that have the training.
This system uses an ultracapacitor or energy accumulator shown at (1) and a converter unit (2) for this particular system, whereas later systems have done away with this to save money and rely on the main car battery which is less effective. But as your vehicle is approaching 10 years of age, it may need replacement.

Re: Start stop not functioning after battery replacement
For the teacup of fuel it will save a year is it really worth getting it working? nevermind the extra wear on the starter motor & other components associated with startup.
I find it more annoying that anything else & every time i drive a car with S/S it gets switched off every time.

I think S&S is more to do with reducing emissions when sitting in a stationary car with the engine ticking over. Think of the mum's-run outside of schools as a prime example. And traffic light queues in town.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Re: Start stop not functioning after battery replacement
Are the emissions it saves less than those needed to make and dispose of a new battery, starter, turbo, etc that may wear out sooner than usual ? Also if the engine is not up to temperature then it will use more fuel. Our stop/start has not worked for some time with the battery never being fully charged so it saves me pressing the off button. For cars used mostly in congested towns then I hate to admit it, but electric cars are the answer to reduce emissions locally.
Cost savings do not seem to come in to arguments about pollution. I recall a work meeting with the Environment Agency where they wanted us to spend a few million to reduce emissions. We said it would not pay back in a couple of years, our normal criteria for investment, but would take around 10 years. Their answer was the fact it would give a pay back was a bonus and the money had to be spent.

Re: Start stop not functioning after battery replacement
Thanks for all your responses guys. After a couple of trips on the new battery everything started workings so must have needed to charge or accumulate power.
Fair comments from the others about how much benefit it actually is. To be fair I probably won’t use it much. But I like to make sure all the features of the vehicle are working in case I do need them.
Many thanks for all yours responses guys
