Peugeot 508 MCP clutch not biting

Unread post by Skopeu »

Hi all, have a 2012 Peugeot 508 that came in with fault code p1755 clutch jammed, diagnosed as the release bearing leaking. Replaced it with a 3 piece LUK kit (flywheel seems perfect) and went about the programming process using diagbox and kept cancelling at the clutch biting point stage. Checked live data and clutch travel wasn't changing with the brake pedal pressed so removed the box again and changed the position sensor on the bearing which has made no difference. Checked the wiring harness from the bearing to the MCP control unit and all showing good so replaced the MCP unit on the side of the gearbox and now only coming up with faults for clutch programming and gearbox programming incomplete (can't remember the fault codes). Has anyone else come across this or know of any solution that may help

Sitting Comfortably?
Fault Code: P1755
Description of Fault:
  • Clutch jammed: Coherence. Clutch actuator fault: incorrect position in relation to the reference value.
  • Context of appearance of the fault code
At least one of the following conditions must be fulfilled:
    - Free wheel
    - engine running
  • Technical precision on the context of appearance of the fault code:
    - In gear changing phase
    - In clutch opening phase
  • Absence of error on the clutch electrovalve and on the engine speed signal.
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • After switching the ignition off and then back on
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • If there is a problem with opening the clutch
    - Automatic mode deactivated
    - Change of gear interrupted
  • If there is random closing of the clutch
    - Emergency selection of neutral
    - Change of gear prohibited as long as neutral is not engaged
  • If there is a problem operating the clutch
    - Emergency request for stopping of engine provided engine close to idling speed
    - Emergency selection of neutral
    - Gear change deactivated
  • If the clutch is jammed open
    - Opening of the clutch
  • If there is a problem with initialisation of the closed position
    - No back-up mode
  • If there is a problem with opening the clutch
  • If the vehicle has the Stop and Start system : Stop and start function deactivated
  • If there is random closing of the clutch during the Stop and Start phase: Restarting in Stop and Start mode impossible
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message (*)
    - "SERVICE" warning lamp
    - Sport warning lamp
    - Snow warning lamp
    - Automatic or 6-speed piloted manual gearbox warning lamps (Orange PRND triangle)
    - Display of a "-" on the fascia panel
Symptoms:
  • Lack of power
  • Impossible to make the vehicle move
  • Absence of automatic stopping of the internal combustion engine
  • Problem with automatic restarting of the internal combustion engine
  • Leaks
Suspect Areas:
  • Clutch position sensor
  • Pressure sensor
  • Electrovalves
  • Gearbox ECU
  • Electropump
  • Electrical harness
  • Clutch
  • Level of oil in the gearbox reservoir
  • Clutch release bearing
  • Leak on the clutch control
  • Pump
(*) According to equipment and engine.

Have you done the bleeding / pressurising / programming procedures? Are you using an external power supply when doing this? Was the clutch the proper one for the EGS box - it is not the same as the manual one apparently.

Yes sensor clicked into place perfectly and bolted 100%

Yes doing all the pressurizing/bleeding procedures ok but won't do the programming of the clutch. Using a GYS battery support unit and definitely the right clutch kit, checked the LUK number against the servicebox part numbers
