Steering rack ecu, from old to new
Hallo. Maybe i have to change my steering rack on my 2.0 hdi 2016. When i search the OE number on the rack i can se that almost every rack fits the car. So i guess the specific oe number is ment for the steering racks ecu. Is it possible to switch the ecu from my original one to the new one that i buy.

Hi
Unfortunately no. These are NOT the same racks for this model. They vary with different part numbers from vehicle engine to engine and also model (Family Saloon / Estate Leisure), as well as specific options fitted to the vehicle and subframe type. These changed throughout the build date with some being low power and others high power units, so you will need the exact type for your vehicle and with the correctly configured ECU relevant to the vehicle's systems and options.

Re: Steering rack ecu, from old to new
Yes, the ECU has to be coded for the exact vehicle - hence why the part numbers are different (as they are supplied by Citroen pre-configured for the correct settings on a per engine, per vehicle basis). So the Autodoc references are meaningless in this regard.... it's like saying 'I have a 'Ford', which rack do I need?' They may list part numbers that were fitted to a particular model, but they can all still be different based on options, equipment body style and engine variant.

Parts like that can come pre-coded or not... If it is pre-coded, then there is nothing to do, if not then it will need programming parameters to match your model of car.

Re: Steering rack ecu, from old to new
Just found out that its probably the bolt that holds the the steering joint to the steering rack. Its a bit worn. Just tighten it really hard and the steering wobling and knocking while driving is gone. Stil as a knocking sound when turning the wheel when its off. Så might have to get a new bolt. Anyone know if its possible to get at bolt as a spare part
