307cc dash multidisplay

Unread post by Expertamateur »

Hello again. I have a 2006 307cc. There is what I think they call a multi-display unit mounted on top of the dash. It is not a multi coloured panel but a sort of dirty amber with black characters. There are a load of black vertical lines obscuring about a third on the right hand side, like a faulty LCD panel. I was wondering if this can be replaced within any kind of realistic budget. I wouldn't dare to ask at a Peugeot dealership so I was thinking along the lines of sourceing a secondhand one. Is this a "chop and change" universal part or is it specific to a certain model? If I can use one from a breakers will it need to be somehow programmed to match my car? If so I just won't bother. There's no way to do anything like this where I live. Any repair that requires a bit of skill usually costs more than the value of the car.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Not coded to the car, just get another one from the same age of car with the same connector & plug it straight in.

Thankyou for some good news for a change. This looks like one battle I can win. So far I am finding more faults than I had bargained for.
Happy New Year to ya!

A useful trick is to look for a part number that (usually) begins with 96. Then check that the part you are looking at has the same number. That should be an identical part.

I did the same swap on my car after sourcing the correct one and the only issue I had was the unit need configuring to work with the radio's CD changer port. If your car has (the factory) CD multichanger (or something using the port, mine has a Yatour unit connected to it) and the donor car doesn't then the new unit will need configuring in order to basically wake up the display unit.

Be aware these unit's are also quite prone to fading when they get warm, typically in summer, obviously the bulbs can fail but it's not uncommon for the display screen to fail/fade too which is why I changed mine.

Thanks for the additional information. So far I haven't been able to find one so it's one more thing to add to my long list.

If you need any official parts, just ask for them on the official parts thread.

At £440.92 I think I will pass. Maybe put a sticker over the display that says "Have a nice day".

Thanks for that Vic. I recall I tried him a couple of years ago when I had a problem with the display on my Expert van. He must have been too busy because at the time he wouldn't answer a couple of questions by email and reluctant to quote up front for a repair. In the end I got one from a breaker in UK and managed to swap enough parts from both to get up and running. £35 and delivered here by a friend.
