Where would you buy DS5 hdi 165 drive shafts?

Unread post by yason »

I've been looking virtually everywhere I know for the right-hand drive shaft (9687854680) for my 2.0 hdi DS5 yet it seems nearly nowhere to be found. There are plenty available for manual / robotic gearboxes but mine is AM6. Has anyone purchased one recently? If you would be so kind to tell where did you shop (in Europe) I'd be very much grateful.

I've also tried to look for the CV joints alone (because replacing those is a fair option) but again the problem seems to be the inner tripod joint (gearbox side). The separate "joint" being sold seems to comprise of the shaft that comes with the tripod cup only (no tripod with new rollers) and on each one I've seen the other end of the shaft, again, looks like the one for the manual transmission. So what the heck is it about the scarcity of shaft ends that fit the AM6 splines? :-D The Aisin transmission isn't exactly a rare unit and it's being used on a number of makes, and significantly more models. It has been fitted in a number of PSA models with the 2.0 litre RRH engine, including models based on the same platform as DS5.

Buying a used low-mileage one is the last option but there's the element of hit-or-miss, obviously.

These are all still available from your dealer, as I've just checked.

If you need the correct part number, see below then you can at least search on this to get the correct part on the after-market.

We can help if you need an original genuine part number, part diagram or vehicle factory build sheet and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 3 years, so excellent value.

If interested, links are below, then provide your vehicle's VIN in full, which will be masked automatically when you submit your post.

Thanks. I've been looking for aftermarket axles using the part number -- that's exactly where I drew a blank.

The dealer is one option, of course, but undoubtedly expensive (if not NFP). I've had many small DS5 parts for a surprisingly good price from the dealer though but the axles aren't one of them.

Luckily, a local French car specialist shop happened to be able to acquire one right-hand side axle. They had nothing to sell earlier this autumn when I asked but now they did see a trustworthy supplier with the part and it was indeed the right one. I bought the left-hand axle as well in one go, but those were more readily available even online.

The inner joints apparently can't be replaced, so a new axle it is.

So I did get the axles without getting an answer to my question except for a reference to the local shop. I guess the new axles will do for the next 300 thousand km :-)
