Yes its normal, you should check LDS level only in depressurised state.

NOOHHH!!!! This is not normal!! You did the right procedure, so there was to much LDS in the system.
If you put the car in the low position, you can see the LDS just at the bottom of the fill opening.
When you use to depressurize with the diagbox the LDS level must be between the 2 marks.
Be sure to clean the overspill from the HP motor, to prevent problems in the future.
Greetings,
Kees.

Yes sorry I did not express myself very well there. It is good that the spillout happened since you had too much LDS in the system. Only check LDS level while depressurised. For more details see: https://public.servicebox-parts.com/dtt ... _2005.html on page 316 (322) - it is for older C5 but is also valid for X7.
Regarding undoing the spheres, I always got them undone with this tool: https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/hogert ... 78310.html

I also used a chain wrench such as in the link to remove one of the front spheres on my C5 X7.

Hi folks, I got big chain wrench and it did the job!!
Reconnected the battery and suspension pump ran to repressurise, then went up in smoke!!!!!( Pump)
Removed pump and cleaned mortar bushes, they were ok, a little dirty but good. Ran pump on bench ( powered red and black wires, ran smoothly, refitted pump replaced Fuse, reconnected battery fuse blow straight away, removed pump to check black box on motor, striped desoldered cleaned resolder ( no sign of corrosion) refitted, renewed fuse conned battery fuse popped straight away, !
Any ideas??

There's obviously a short somewhere - re-check the connections and make sure there's no conductive carbon paste remaining anywhere.

I understand, that you supply a 12V DC direct to the motor, passing by the black box??
If this is right, maybe you damage the coil, and explain the smoke because the pomp get an 12V PWM supply, with means a square block signal from 50% 12V and 50% 0 volt.
This is done, to reduce the power consumption.

Kees.
