DS5 doesn't "wake up" when trying to start

Unread post by biohead »

My DS5 has started to cause a few issues when going to "start" the car.
It's not the actual starting of the engine which is an issue - it's getting the car to wake up first (i,e. get into Ign On mode).

Symptoms are: Unlock the car, place the key in the holder, foot on brake and press the start button - no response at all.
If I take my foot OFF the brake and try to start, it then pops up saying I need my foot on the brake - so it clearly is detecting that OK.
I give the car a few minutes and eventually it will spring to life - but as it's getting colder it's definitely got worse.

The symptoms are perfectly described in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=73480 pointing to the BPGA at the end of it all.

I wondered if anyone else had any thoughts?

A scan with Diagbox confirms an intermittent fault on the BPGA, so I'm leaning towards that:

The next time it happens, I'm going to try tap the BPGA to see if it is a sticky relay - or maybe bridge the points on the BPGA briefly (it doesn't appear there's any easy standoff posts on this model though).

Almost certainly the BPGA unit - do the mirrors fail to fold out when you unlock?

No - the mirrors come out fine.
I had seen mention of this being a telltale sign of the BPGA failing, but I guess there's numerous different failure modes.

To DO get a battery charge warning message as soon as the car does turn on. It disappears instantly, but it's definitely there.
