DPF ISSUES

Unread post by Kirst101010 »

Hi there wondering if anyone has had similar issues.
Kept getting "at risk of dpf blockage warning "
Car eventually went into limp mode.
Had DPF cleaned and diagnostics which showed slow speed fan wasn't working.
Fan resister replaced .
Still fault.
DPF pressure sensor also replaced.
Had multiple forced regens.
Now "DPF at risk of blockage and service light comes at the same time currently stays on for several minutes the goes off whilst driving!
Garage have almost given up and can't find any other fault codes.
Any help 🙏

When you cleaned the DPF and replaced it, you must tell the engine ECU that the DPF has been replaced! If not, it won't know this and will keep flagging the warnings. If you have done this correctly, and the warning is still coming up then the clean has probably not been successful.

A forced regen is generally not the magic bullet answer that garages seem to think it is, and is not the same process as cleaning. But what it lets them do is charge you £100 for "doing something". A forced regen burns off soot, it does not remove ash or cerine deposits. The final answer may be to clean the DPF off-car, but this can be checked using actual data - don't guess.

Read the thread I've posted in here about DPF issues, it has a decent amount of detail.

Describe the "cleaning" you mention. What was done?

O'Reilly's Autos on YouTube has 373 posts on DPFs alone. While many of the videos are bit "samey", he does give some tutorials on the whys and wherefores of Regens and Cleaning. But there is one thing he stresses above all.

He has some nuggets of information in his years of Mobile Repairs and Servicing.

There loads more - how to's, general discussions of methods and outcomes, specific model videos.

Can be a long watch to find little or nothing sometimes, but I keep finding interesting snippets every now and again.

A bloke that knows his stuff, though not necessarily the best at presentation.

Every once in a while he drifts off into not-very-useful reviews of freebie diagnostic gear he gets sent, but he doesn't shill stuff.

At least he covers his "c***ups" as well. Can be tedious to watch but then he is not a professional vlogger.

Just ignore it if you're driving has not altered. As long as no EML is on your okay iirc. My much older vehicle went into 'limp' mode due to faulty maff sensor. And it tells me to fill FAP fluid even though I have and not reset it my bad.
