I need to lift the car to check the rear wheels and it seems the bottle jack i own is not up for the job.
What car jack to buy for 1st gen Grand C4 Picasso ? - mean which specification of minimum and maximum height
At which height does the car need to be lifted in the back if it has pneumatic suspension (only the back) ?
When lifting the back do i need to put the level of the suspension to the minimum or maximum level ?

Re: lift jack - Grand C4 Picasso
Regarding the pneumatic suspension - when you're changing a wheel or jacking the car, you MUST deactivate the system, by pressing the lower of the suspension button controls at the rear for at least 2 seconds until it beeps and remains illuminated.
Repeat after you have returned the vehicle to normal height after repairs.
This is not the hydropneumatic system used on earlier Citroens (BX, CX, Xantia etc. or hydractive systems used on later vehicles like C5 or C6). The system on the Picasso uses pneumatic bags, not hydraulics, so cannot be used for wheel changing etc.
As for a jack, use the one supplied (scissor jack), or if you have an inflation kit instead of a spare wheel, you can buy a scissor jack. Just make sure it supports the vehicle weight (these are listed on the vehicle's identification panel) or can be found in your owner's manual under the technical data section, along with the jacking points.

I will try this deactivation. Maybe this is the cause i failed.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑26 Sep 2024, 18:22 you MUST deactivate the system, by pressing the lower of the suspension button controls at the rear for at least 2 seconds until it beeps and remains illuminated.
so far i tried :
normal suspension height :
starting from aprox. 218mm (jack 158mm + 60mm extension ) until 308mm (jack 158mm + 60mm extension + 90mm lifting ) >> wheel still touching the ground
minimum suspension height :
starting from aprox. 168mm (jack 158mm + 10mm extension ) until 258mm (jack 158mm + 10mm extension + 90mm lifting ) >> wheel still touching the ground
Conclusion is that i need a jack that can lift more than 90mm. But how much is actually needed?
I find jacks that can lift perhaps 150-200mm but their start height is over 200mm and this perhaps will not work for the front (need to check front height). And most definitely will not work with a flat tire.
Service/floor jacks and scissor jacks seem to have a lifting range but not all of then. Also I would prefer bottle jack because it's compact and easy to use.
So this is why i was hoping that anyone could tell me the requirements a jack needs to have for C4-GP .

Re: lift jack - Grand C4 Picasso
There's no such specification listed - a normal car jack should be adequate to lift the vehicle enough to change a wheel. Anything else and you will need proper axle stands for repairs and possibly a trolley jack, but always make sure it's properly supported before getting underneath and never with the suspension in high as if the system deflates unexpectedly it will crush you.

i just want to spin the wheel and feel if the brake caliper is seized or not fully released.
I see most scissor jacks lift up to 350mm or more and perhaps that would be enough.

Diagbox says the lifting jack for my car is part number 6725.94
Searching ebay for this jack I found one that has this photo: So it seems it is rated at 860kg and a height of 325mm

Yes, that's the correct one for a GP with rear pneumatic suspension.
