Citroen Ds5 2.0HDI PROBLEM

Unread post by Ds5fan »

Hello, colleagues. I am writing for advice on a problem on my 2012 DS5 2.0HDI
The car after acceleration, either slowly or quickly, goes into emergency mode and the engine light comes on and there is no power (it remains without turbo). The errors it records are P0299 and P2562.
As far as I have learned, they are related to insufficient pressure of the turbine.
Whether it's dirty geometry, a leaky vacuum, or a turbo valve is a problem.
It is interesting that it does not do it constantly, I delete the error and it is possible that the next 50 km will not be a problem.
Please give your opinion on the issue
Thank you

I don't have your VIN (best to post it up for confirmation so correct engine system can be identified), but assuming it's a DW10CTED4:

Fault Code: P0299
Description of Fault:
  • Boost pressure regulation: Air pressure below the reference value.
  • Description of the diagnostics: Engine speed between 2500 and 3500 rpm - Engine torque less than 280 Nm.
  • The measured turbo air pressure is less than the reference by 900 mbars for 6 seconds
  • Engine speed between 2000 and 2500 rpm - Engine torque between 320 and 340 Nm
  • The measured turbo air pressure is less than the reference by 450 mbars for 6 seconds
  • Engine speed between 1500 and 3500 rpm - Engine torque equal to 300 Nm
  • The measured turbo air pressure is less than the reference by 500 mbars for 6 seconds
  • Conditions of activation of the diagnostics: The following conditions have to be met:
    - Engine speed above 1500 rpm
    - The actual engine torque is higher than 100 Nm
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving with engine hot for 5 minutes, with several accelerations at full load for 10 s followed by foot-offs
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Deactivation of the request for regeneration of the particle filter from the diagnostic tool
  • Deactivation of the EGR function
  • Cutting of the exhaust heat saver function
  • Deactivation of the regeneration by forcing normal mode (No post-treatment or EGR regulation)
  • Limitation of performance
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning messages:
Warning lamp MIL: "SERVICE" warning lamp
Symptoms:
  • Engine hesitating, cutting out
  • Noise
  • Lack of power
  • Smoke from the exhaust
  • Slightly higher fuel consumption
  • Fluid leak / Smells
  • Loss of braking assistance
Suspect Areas:
  • Atmospheric pressure sensor
  • Air cleaner
  • Air temperature sensor at the flowmeter
  • Turbocharger
  • Air mixer
  • Turbocharger air cooler
  • Turbocharging pressure sensor
  • Turbocharger solenoid valve
  • Exhaust gas recycling valve
  • Turbocharger position copy sensor
  • Electrical harnesses
  • Oil
  • Sump
  • Oil pump
  • Lubrication circuit of the turbocharger
  • Vacuum pump
  • Vacuum circuit
  • Air line

Fault Code: P2562
Description of Fault:
  • Variable geometry turbocharger: Position incorrect in relation to the requirement (Not enough turbocharging).
  • Description of the diagnostics: Positive discrepancy above 40% detected for 6 seconds between the position reference point and the measured position of the variable geometry of the turbocharger.
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Driving with the engine hot for 5 minutes
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Deactivation of the EGR function
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: Warning lamp MIL
Symptoms:
  • Noise
  • Smoke from the exhaust
  • Lack of power
  • Loss of braking
Suspect Areas:
  • Turbocharger: Variable geometry open
  • Turbocharger solenoid valve
  • Position indicator of the turbocharger
  • Electrical harness
  • Vacuum circuit

Hi guys, I had a similar problem with my 2.0 bhdi ds5 going into limp mode, apparently one of the reasons is there is a built in algorithm that forces limp mode if several DPF regen failures are detected between services, usually caused by short trips. I was advised to reset the service monitoring to zero, press and hold the test button under the instruments while starting until the counter runs down from 9 to zero, a simple procedure and solved my problem instantly.

Hi, this is my VIN - VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I tried this on autobahn- 3000k rpm about 15mins, but not successful .
It is interesting that while the engine was cold, it did not go into error.
Another thing is that the car has recently been with me and for about 400 km it has not errors codes . Since I changed the timing belt set oil and filters the problems started (I doubt it's because of this)

Thanks for opinion. I drive it in autobahn several times . The DPF system seems ok . Behind the car there si have no smoke on low rpm or high rpm .
I resetting service interval a few times , but the problem is there.
