Hello
Is there anywhere I can get a detailed wiring diagram for the renault trafic 2 (2005)...1.9dci 101HP. F9Q 760 engine.
I'm having trouble with the coolant temerature sensor circuit showing open or short to +12v
Ive fitted a brand new sensor so I've ruled that out...Im assuming its something in the wiring itself.
I could do with a decent diagram to show the complete coolant circuit to possibly find the fault.
Thanks

Personally speaking, I can't help you with Renault vehicles, sorry.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Hi Wheeler..
The Reg is YT55 FBA...
If you need the VIN i'll get it for you tomorrow.
Thanks

Re: Wiring diagram
Hi Wheeler
Do you have any other info on the diagram...ie a key to the components shown.
I'm not exactly wiring diagram literate but if i can identify the different parts i'll have half a chance.
Thanks

Re: Wiring diagram
Sorry, i only put the component code for the CTS as that was the circuit you are interested in. Here are all the component & Colour codes.

Re: Wiring diagram
Hi again Wheeler,
Thnk you so much for the info...
As i said...Ive replaced the sensor with a brand new one....I thought the short to +12v might be the sensor had failed inside.
Do you have an idea of what might be causing the problem?...Is it something youve come across before at all?
I've cleared the code a number of times but every time I restart the my diagnostic machine the code and message comes back up as 'active'.....obviously something isn't right.
The code is DF001....having looked online It seems this code appears for many faults that might occur...is a 'general' code do you think?

Re: Wiring diagram
If you unplug the sensor & switch the ignition on what voltage are you getting at each pin?

Hi Wheeler
Sorry about the late reply.
There's only two pins in the connector one has 5v and the other has no voltage.

Re: Wiring diagram
Can you see the live data from the sensor on you diagnostic? What is it reading with the sensor plugged in then disconnected?

Re: Wiring diagram
I'll give a try tomorrow.....the engine isnt running yet because of a fuel problem that i'm trying to fix.
Would live data still work with just the ignition on or does it have to be running.

Re: Wiring diagram
Morning
I've scanned the fault again this morning....
Ive used the live data and the value of the water temperature reads as 0.1 Degrees with the sensor coupled up and with the connector off.
I put the (coupled up) sensor tip into a cup of warm water and using live data again there was no difference in the reading...0.1 degrees
The sensor is brand new so Im assuming thats OK?

Re: Wiring diagram
Definitely dont assume that, especially if you bought it from Euro Crap Parts.
Put an ohmmeter directly across the sensor terminals & put it in the hot water, as the temperature increases the resistance should decrease and vice versa, you could compare both sensors to see if you get at the same readings at the same temperatures.
So im a bit confused, is the van currently a non runner? Are you thinking the temp reading issue may be causing the non starting? What is the history of the fault?

Re: Wiring diagram
Hello Wheeler
As it stands at the moment it will start/run for about 3 or 4 seconds then cut out.
If I crank the engine again it will start/run again for about 3 or 4 seconds then cut out.....and so on and so on.
It will not run for any length of time and it will not rev up even when it starts and with the throttle pedal to the floor.
Before this it wouldnt start at all because there was no fuel getting to the fuel filter.
I removed the tank and found a significant amount of sludge in the pick up point within the 'in tank unit'...all cleaned.
The water sensor issue (open circuit or short to +12v) is an issue that my scanner has picked up as a fault code...it is a code that is staying on as 'Active' .
I'm sorry that I'm presenting two possibly related issues at the same time.
The engine has had a complete overhall btw.....
So..when I first tried to start it after adding all fluids it wouldn't start at all...so I did the above ...now the fuel is reaching the filter and the HP pump.
After putting the engine back in there were a few codes on the van so I cleared them...some were in the memory ...some were active.
After clearing the faults I now have only one active code and its the water sensor issue....I have removed the fault a few times but it comes straight back on every time the key is turned.
I don't know if this poor starting is anything to do with the water sensor issue?....The water sensor fault code comes up as part of/under the heading of 'Injection System'
I'll try the hot water and ohmeter and let you know the results.
I could do with a process/order list on how to proceed to try to nail down the issues.
I was hoping to get the engine running properly first by finding out why its only running for seconds before cutting out...I thought that by removing the sludge in the tank that the engine would start and run properly....now i'm wondering if the water sensor fault has anything to do with it not running properly.
Sorry about the essay!
