RD4 to RD45 upgrade issues
Hello! I'm aware that most of this thread is full of rd4 to rd45 upgrade related issues, but I'm at my wits end and I'm not able to find someone trustworthy in my area to help me with this. I've recently changed my screen and the radio, more specifically type c v51.5 to type c v71.3, and the radio rd4 to r45. I'm trying to stream music from my phone, and the options appear now in the diagbox. I've connected the cables, made the changes with a diagbox for the multi function screen and radio options, all is well, no errors. But when I try to connect my phone, I can't select the option to search for a device, and it's there, but it gets greyed out as soon as I enter the menu. I tried connecting using my phone first, it gets the confirmation that the phone has been paired, but then the connection on the radio behaves erratically, the icon shoes the phone connected a few milliseconds, then disconnected, and so on, while my phone shows that is connected to the radio. At this point, if I try to go in the BT menu from the radio, the BT menu options get sluggish and I can't unpair the phone. I was hoping to upgrade the radio to have music in my car on the cheap, because there's a lot of interference for fm transmitter in my area, but at this point it's getting pretty expensive, starting to look at an android radio which is compatible with the steering wheel controls and which may able to show the consumption and so on. Any idea is very welcomed.

Re: RD4 to RD45 upgrade issues
It can also be a compatibility issue with later smartphones which use later Bluetooth protocols. Have you tried with an older phone yet or with a different model.
Also if you have been using Lexia PP2000, make sure you do not have 'Hands Free Kit / Nomad' options configured as available / present, as this will cause interference. These are for a separate connecting box that is not needed for RD45 that has internal an Bluetooth module.
Make sure you have also VIN coded the Radio correctly to your actual VIN.

Re: RD4 to RD45 upgrade issues
I've tried with an older phone, it's the same issue. I actually had the 'Hands Free Kit / Nomad' configured as present, I disable it, but it's the same thing.
Normally, if you don't code the Radio with the your VIN, doesn't it beep?
I also have my engine light on and my mechanic wasn't able to find the fault, so I'm thinking to go the the Peugeot service garage and ask them also about the radio.
Thank you so much for the information!

Re: RD4 to RD45 upgrade issues
Without VIN coding the RD45 to your vehicle, you will either lose functionality or it will beep or have intermittent issues.
You need to have the Hands Free Kit disabled - as you do not have that module fitted and it will affect the operation if it is trying to route info to a non-existent unit.
Make sure you also have the screen type correctly selected.

You might want to compare with the BSI config on my Peugeot 308 after successful upgrade from RD4 to RD45: viewtopic.php?p=605092#p605092 (just look at the BSI page for RD 4 and the RD45 pages)
