Hi had irattic temp going from half way to full over heat when going 60 plus.
Changed thermostat and new coolant but problem seems to persist.
Top hose of radiator is hot and under pressure bottom one much cooler with no apparent pressure.
Just wondering if anyone has any idea how to bleed this model, filled it with vacuum pump setup which usually works for most cars,
Got steady stream of coolant from bleed screw on thermostat housing and one by firewall on heater matrix.
Is there a separate temperature sensor on this model somewhere apart from plug on thermostat housing?
Thanks in advance for any pointers & tips ….

It needs to be properly drained, filled and degassed and requires special equipment to do properly.

Ok, thanks for your Forum donation - just follow the link, but let me have your VIN so I can advise on the correct part for you to follow regarding the degassing as it varies for non Euro 6 and Euro 6 vehicles. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Has the timing belt and water pump been changed yet, just in case the pump is not circulating ? Any signs of head gasket failure ? Does the engine fan run ? Just thinking of other reasons why the temp could be jumping up if it is not an air problem, thermostat problem, coolant temp sensor problem, fan not working but at 60 mph I would think it would not be needed.
You could check the old thermostat in a pan of boiling water to see if it opens. If you have a code reader with live data you can also check the values the coolant temp sensor is giving to see if they are about right as the engine warms up and the the thermostat opens shown by the top hose getting warm and when the engine fan starts (possibly around 96°C).

Ok, so confirmed you have a Euro 6.1 vehicle so follow the part for Euro 6 at this section.
