Cam belt change

Unread post by Vic Evans »

My wife's 2014 c4 1.6 hdi Millenium is due a 10 yearly belt change so presumeably it would be best to get the water pump changed at same time. It will be done by local Citroen garage. Any other things she should be asking to be done at same time as she intends keeping car. ? It's done about 105,000km.
Can't get vin no as she's away with car at the mo. but it was given here if it helps,

Hi Vic, unfortunately as the vehicle is 25 years old, Peugeot don't have the servicing data available online so I can't provide you with the details of servicing operations and schedules for this vehicle.

But brake fluid should be changed every 2 years and the cooling system checked for coolant effectiveness if it hasn't already been done.

Ok, so I may have your older vehicle obviously :-D Best to pop up the latest one here as quote's with a VIN from your post above are permanently obfuscated (the characters are as you see in the quote), so I can only see the VIN from the original post.

Mme just picked up car from garage after service & cam belt change etc.
Was paying bill when owner, who's looked after our cars for 21 years, came out & gave her the old belt pulley which apparently was almost off. He had never seen this before & said she was lucky the engine wasn't wrecked.

Can somebody tell me where this pulley is from?
It's got a key slot so I'm guessing it's either from the crankshaft or camshaft.

It's the engine timing gear that's on the crankshaft pulley, item (7). £90.68 UK inc. VAT (£75.57 ex VAT) just for comparison.

Cheers Marc
Garage charged me 97 euros inc 20% TVA (VAT) for the part which is about 84 quid so certainly not a rip off.
Mme & car had just returned from a trip to the UK so it would have been a disaster if the belt had broken whilst she was en route.
Car's running like a good'un now with 2 yearly Controle Technique (MOT) due early next month.
