1.6 THP Engine oil leak

Hi!

I have a Citroën ds3 from 2013 with the 1.6 THP engine and I have an issue with oil leakage. I have localized it from a hole on the luft side of the valve cover (see picture). What does this hole do and does anyone know why it’s leaking oil from it?

That hole does not have any useful purpose, but it doesn't penetrate all the way through, so cannot leak oil. It is however common for the camshaft cover to get a hairline crack in that location that causes an oil leak that appears to come from the hole.

The only cure I found was to replace the whole plastic cover.

Oh ok, that explains why there is oil in the gap between the valve cover and the cylinder head. Probably need a new valve cover then.
